Lombardi, as he himself, is dedicated to the students. through his teaching, coaching, and by his deep feeling of school spirit. He has an inter- est in each student, and is always there if a problem should arise. With all his activities, he even found time and patience to coach the girlls football teams. As a history teacher he had the ability to make this subject so interesting that each student couldnlt help but learn. Mr. Lombardi is now a guidance counselor and, although he just started, he has proven himself to be indispensable. He has done so much for so many and is so well-liked that with respect and gratitude we dedicate the our yearbook to Aldo Lombardi. 4 F YBM2 vs 'M . Peterson I07 FAREWELL Senior Class of 1966 You are one of the finest graduating clas'es in the history of Canton High School. Your spirit and participation in school has been unsurpassed for many years. This has been illustrated by your tre- mendous bucking at rallies and athletic activities such as football, basketball, and hockey games. Your class has worked very hard to- gether as a whole. An example of this would be the breakfast you held before one of the football games. I am sure it was enjoyed by everyone. This unity among many other things has added to your great spirit and success as a Senior Class. The attitude of the members of your class is an excellent reflection of the faculty. The teachers' guidance and super- vision will help prepare you for the world into maturity thrusts you. You deserve the admiration of the com- munity as you will he a great asset to tomorrow's immediate demands. You may be offered a chance to play a vital role in tomorrow's world of uncertain future. Throughout my three years at Canton High School, I have watched other classes work together to strive for success, but I have yet to see the class that will surpass the spirit, ambition, and in- quisitiveness of your class of 1966. I only hope that your class will set an example for future senior classes to fol- low. .Iunior Class President Donna Larson ' - -vs ,N . . . Many firsts were accomplished by this year's Council, these included: an Induction Ceremony for the class officers, CHS Baracuder Jackets were made available to the student body, the Student Council Newsletter, and the printing of the pro- grams for the football games. Assistance was given to many organizations this past year. The Student Council sold refreshments and ushered at the Schollar Dollar Concert, issued a loan to the Na- tional Honor Society for the purchase of Christmas Trees, and helped needy familes at Christmas Time. The high point of the year was the concert in February. A full house of students and faculty thoroughly enjoyed the performance by the Kings- men and the Tallysmen hands. Since the ac- tions of the students present at the concert were very commendable, events of this type will probably become an annual event in the school in future years. Top Row-J. The Bulldogs' record was four wins, four losses, and one tie. This record though, is decep- tiveg with a few breaks the team may have won three more games. These were lost by a total of five points. The sole stale-mate with Stoughton was a very hard fought game as were all the othersg but this was the game and the boys were really up for it. It looked as if Canton had a victory when they led at the half by a score of 16-0. However, Stoughton scored twice in the second half and was able to thwart a late Canton drive. Canton faired well in non-league competition with a 2-1-1 recordg while they were 2-3 in the Hockomock Lea- gue. The girls, with the able coach- ing of Miss Hayes, finished the year with a 8-2 record. They displayed great effort and spirit which helped to bring the season to a successful finish in second place in the Hockomock League. The girls put up a valiant fight against Oliver Ames but finally lost by 2 points. The J.V.'s finished a fine year coached by Mrs. Alford. Their record was a 6-4. For the first time, the Senior girls organized their own football teams, the Pow-da-Puffs and the Petti- Pants, and then went on to play a rough game of tackle football for their sole encounter of the season. Under the expert tutelage of Coach Lombardi, the girls learned to block, tackle, throw, and how to run several intri- cate play patterns. The girls' adeptness at their new sport was demonstrated in the tough game they played with no holds barred. Few penalties were called as the girls stayed within the limits of the, NCAA rules. The lead seesawed throughout the contest with scintilating rl1nS by Pam Plante and .lane Grant bringing the ample crowd to its feet. The tackling was a thing to behold and a look of envy was noted on the face of the boys' coach, Mr. Higgins. The Pow-da-Puffs emerged the 12-8 victors with the future Petti-Pants vowing revenge next year. Q ? 1 5 Standing: C. Richards, L. Kenney, M. Gibson, S. DeFelice, J. Donnolly, S. Packard, J. Grant, N.
