Remember how mixed up everything seemed . . . not only that first day. hut for several days thereafter . . . we were never sure if we were doing the right thing at the right time? Finally. after getting everything straightened away and fitting ourselves into our new life. we began our high school years. Then came the day when we had the election of class officers . . . those who would be the leaders of our freshman class. After the campaign was over. we had selected Susan Leary. President. Paul Pasquarose. Vice President Xlarcia Blondell. Secretary. and Willian' Holt. Treasurer. Also. in the fall of '56 our freshmen cheerleaders were chosen. Nfaxine Swardlick. Captain. Sandra Croft. Susan Leary. Nlargaret Nfaggalet. Joan Booth. Diana Ber- teletti. and Barbara Cataldo were peppy cheerleaders. The gym was gaily decorated in the theme of St. Patrick's Day, and everyone enjoyed himself. Maxine Swardlick and Sandra Croft were chosen to be varsity cheerleaders. In the spring of this year we had a class meeting and Susan Leary, Carol Roselund, Joyce Clark. and our four class officers were nominated for the ring committee. They carefully looked over all the possibilities and selected a gold ring with a blue stone which we were to receive the following year. As Juniors starting out in the fall of 358 we were a far cry from the shaky, frightened freshmen of two years ago. Early in the year we elected the following class officers: William Dean. President: George Carr, Vice President: Margaret Maggelet. Secretary: and Clem Leary. Treasurer. They served us efficiently, and because of their work our class had a prosperous year. In February of this year a great event took place . . . we moved into the new high school. We then occupied homerooms 205, 207, 105. and 109. Members of our class were chosen to be on the Stu- dent Council. They helped make this year one of the Council's most profitable. The members were: Susan Leary. Sandra Croft. Maxine Swardlick. Marcia Blondell. George Carr. and Anthony Porcaro. New additions to the cheering squad during the bas- kethall season were Susan Leary and Gay Gibbons. The high spot of the year was our Junior Prom which was held on May 22nd. The theme was L'Starlight Son- ataf, Louis Renaud and Judy Johnson were crowned qisroav King and Queen. Also in this year, Susan Flood, Louis Renaud, and Lee iMcDermott were chosen to represent our class at Girl's and Boy's State. At the class of 1959's graduation exercises, ten mem- bers of our class received the Pro Merito award for at- taining a MBR or better average in their first three years of high school work. Our third year came to a close with the annual class trip to Nantasket, which took place on the last day of school. All had a good time and we returned to Canton early that evening. The last rung on the ladder was reached as we returned as seniors. Here again We immediately started with the election of our class officers for the biggest year of our high school career. This was done with care, and for Presi- dent we elected Lee McDermottg as Vice President, Diana Bertellettig as Secretary Marcia Blondell: and as Treas- urer ,leanette Powers. Our yearbook, Wllhe Echo, was a tremendous task involving a lot of detail. But it was well handled by Colleen Gaines, Editor-in-Chief and Gay Gibbons. Senior Editor and the edition was a successful one. This year Maxine Swardlick was elected Captain and Sandra Croft Co-Captain of the Cheerleaders. Margaret Maggelet and Marcia Blondell became members of the squad during the football season. Our field hockey team had a fairly good season. It 'Ir X.. . XT K' af r. Q .
