CLASS HISTCRY One September mornlng IH 1951 a group of youths from Canton set forth wlth a well pre pared four year plan ln mlnd The flrst of these years was a most happy one Our headquarters were the Cafeterla and Rooms 2 and 5 We held a class meetlng and amld proceed lngs xxhlch su ere a blt bewllderlng we elected Darrell d Entremont as Presldent Robert Bow mar as VICC Presldent Gall Crawford as Sec retary and Rosemarle Booth as Treasurer Wfe xx elcomed Mr Clough as a new faculty member He vlas glven the lob of coachlng our football team WhlCh wx on two games and lost an equal number The Freshman glrls under the dlrectlon of Mrs Mlller and some of the mothers held a food sale whlch was a huge success We struggled through the wlnter wlth much homevl ork and when sprlng arrrved we had our own baseball team Among the teams Wh1Ch we played were Bralntree Norwood and Stough on Toward the end of the year we became ac qualnted wlth class dues And the year closed wlth a trlp to Nantasket on Wh1Ch needless to say we all had a good tlme We enjoyed our summer vacatlon lmmense ly but when September 1952 rolled around we were wllllng and able to take up where we had left off IH june We were stlll unlmportant to the Senlors but the thought that we could dlctate to the new Freshmen was some conso latlon As our Sophomore year leaders we elected these offlcers Presldent joseph Berardl Vlce Presldent ames O Brlen Secretary Darrell dEntremont Treasurer Thomas Cravn ford As Sophomores we were located IH Rooms 12 14 and 16 We were happy to have as one of our advlsors a new member of our faculty Mr joseph GIDSOD Thls year was a revelatlon of the athletlc abllltles of our classmates wlth joseph Berardl Robert Bowmar Donald Russell Jack Walsh Bernard Foley Davld Leary and Thomas Craw ford IH football and baseball and Burnam Mc Coubrey and Edgar Martln IH track Anlta Feld man and Betty Dean were members of the hockey squad In March our flrst SOCIHI functlon took place we held our Sophomore Hop IH the gymnaslum The hard work of all concerned was HPPICCI ated slnce the Hop was a successful and most enjoyable event Our year came to a close when we spent a very excltlng day at Nantasket Beach On September 9 1955 we re entered Canton Hlgh as proud upperclassmen under the cap able watchful eyes of Mr Scully ln Room 10 Mrs LIDCOIH ln Room 11 and Mr Clough ln Room 15 On that flrst day we dlscovered Mr Halnes ln Room 12 replaclng Mr GIDSOH and MISS Hayes IH charge of P T classes lnstead of Mlss Lewls Mr MacDonald was also a new member of the faculty We greeted several new class mates among whom were Robert Burnham Sally Cole Edward Draper Vlncent F1tZWll llams and all the way from England Chester FIS On October 8 we held our class electrons and as a result we had ames O Brlen as Presldent as Secretary Rlchard Doyle as Treasurer Our class was represented ln the Student Councll by joseph Berardl Gall Crawford Anlta Feldman and james O Brlen We qulckly rolled ID both our studles and extracurrlcular actlvltles and before we knew It the fleld hockey team had tled for second place ln the Hockamock League In addltlon to those prevlously mentloned Margaret Kelleher Gall Crawford Gertrude Wltt MHIJOFIC Cun nlngham Barbara Markt Mary Klncade and Nancy Walsh were on the team Our football team also made a flne record thls year Our next lmportant electron was that of our rlng commlttee Wlth the help of Mrs LIDCOIH our rlng commlttee selected a truly beautlful rlng wlth a blue settlng Those who served on the rlng commlttee were Gall Crawford Anlta Feldman Prlscllla Lantzos Perry Marathas james O Brlen and Karen Ruane When the rlngs arrrved we were all more than pleased Wlth our flne ChOlCC 3 7. 7 - . . , - I . . . , , - , , , 7 - n , - , ' a 7 ' 7 1 , 1 I , .
