CLASS H ISTCRY In rhe fall of l949 The old Canlon High School shoolc from Jrhe sfampede ol wild Indians. They were lhe 'rribes from lhe Elior Crane and S+. Johns Grammar Schools. On enrering we 'rhe wide-eyed Freshmen had a deaoly fear of +he older braves and being lypical Frosh' we lcnew nolhing of rhe showery inirialion we mighl eceive were we lo gel our ol hand. Afler a few weelcs of complele bewildermenl and search for lhe non-exislenl' Room 6 we sellled down lor a Pow-wow +o elecl our iirsl Big Chiefs. We enfhusiaslically elecled ambilious Arlhur Bougas as our leader vivacuous Nancy l-lurlburl as our Vice Presldenl' sedale Barbara Warfield as our able Treasurer and our own Mary Lou Pelers as our Secrelary As Freshmen we nalurally were in need ol Wam pum so wilh lhe and ol our Principal lvlr Donovan we sold Chrislmas candy We were well represenred in lrack hoclcey fool ball baseball and baslcelball Marilyn Howard and Carolyn Malhews were chosen as cheerleaders for our Sophomore year Galloping rhrough our liirsl year wilh llying colors we pur on our war painr and Toolc oicf for Nanlaslcer Beach for a day of all-around enjoyment H was wi+h sun-lanned laces and dreamy eyes +ha+ we again enlered lhe Big Tepee To greer our fribesmen and leaders. As Sophomores we were more experienced in Jrhe field of scalping fhe liHle Freshmen. The Jrormenled Turned in+o lhe +or- menlors. Several of our lribe having ioined larger Tribes could noi slay +o enjoy a second year wifh We lhen selrled down +o anolher year of sfudy- ing and chose our new leaders Presndenl Joe Gece wicz was aided mosl successfully by Audrey Moss as Vice Presldenl Our money render was Arlhur Bou gas and Shirley Flanagan was our conhdenhal Clerk Our hrsl meehng ended in a heap big hayride which everyone whole hearfedly enioyed When April rolled around we anxiously prepared for our cusfomary ceremony lhe Sophomore HOD The sporls of lhis year were as en+husias+ically welcomed as in our Freshman year We had Two new cheerleaders +o Wahoop for our mighry
