What was actually said and done at the student and formal dedications christen- ing Canton Senior High School may be forgotten, but the thoughts suggested to the audiences will take root and grow during the coming years. A little time out in the world will bring to the new graduates the realization that the years filled 'with memories and traditions, now slowly enshrining and aging the sparkling young halls of C.S.H.S., were the most enlightening and carefree years most of us will probably ever live. ORM-AL DEDICATIONI The Mixed Chorus provided thc proper atmosphere for the formal dedication on Sunday January 10 Sharing thc stage with the Chorus are members of the Board of Education, the architects, and contractors. by providing this house of learning, the center of state-wide awe and admiration. But the eye-catching appeal this institution affords is only secondary. The main concern now is the mental and physical development of these generations that someday may be pushing bond issues of their own here and there throughout the country. The dedicatory address given by Mr. Sharvy Greiner Umbeck, president of Knox College, stressed that educators must not lose sight of the individual and that an appreciation for high moral standards must enter into the process of mental seasoning. During a debate in the House of Commons concerning the importance of educa- tion January 29th, 1828, Lord Brougham said these words that have meaning for us today: Education ffmkef az people eafy to lead, but dijfimlt to fi7l'j1J6,' eary to govern, but imporfible to emlczzfe. May education move forward in Canton Senior High School to justify the confidence placed in youth by this community. This Page Sponxorvzl by: CARVER Sl DENNY DRY CLEANERS
