V' 'TW P l Q N JD JF ,mix yu FOOTBALL At the f1rst call for football th1s year a number of exper1enced men and of prom1s1ng newcomers donned thelr equxpment for pract1ce Indeed the football prospects looked brlght but fortune d1d not Smlle on Canton s elex en, because more 1n3ur1es befell our team th1s year than 1n any former year In the opemng game of the season Canton was handed a 13 6 loss by the New Br1ta1n Iayvees The next week Canton mounted the bus for Torrmgton and made the homeward tr1p a happy one by defeatlng the Torrmgton second game lost by a score of 13 6 The Redskms' w1n however was overshadowed by then' loss of Henry Bahre, who sustalned a back mjury and was mlssxng from the team the remalnder of the season At the f1rst home game Canton played host to the Amerlcan School of the Deaf, but sent them home defeated 7 6 The next week Canton lost 1ts second game 7 6 to a strong Berlln team Then the Weaver seconds came to Canton seekmg a v1ctory, but Canton de feated them 12 0 Iunlor Repubhc was the next guest of Canton but lt was not too cordlally rece1ved for the1r team returned home w1th a defeat of 7 6 Canton lost 1ts fmal game to Farm1ngton an opponent of many years and al though our boys played nobly ended the season wlth a defeat of 32 0 team 13-O.
