Mrs. Martha Matthews-Guidance and counseling are Mrs. Matthews ' du¬ ties. She is available to help us with any problems which we might have. Mrs. Naomi Bohnsdahl-Mrs. Bohns- dahl makes our library one of the best. This year she acquired many new and useful visual aids. Mrs. Edith Goodman-Our school ' s secretary-treasurer is Mrs. Good¬ man. Filling out transcripts for college is one of her many tasks. Mrs. Barbara Bolden-Our girls ' physical education teacher, Mrs. Bolden, is new to our faculty this year. Sponsoring the Health Ca¬ reer ' s Club is another one of her duties. Mr. Boyd Allen-Mr. Allen our ath¬ letic director, head football coach, and photographer for the annual was selected to be head coach of the North Carolina team in the Shrine Bowl. 19

Miss Mary Gillis-As our senior spons ' r and English teacher, Miss Gillis has a big job. She also teaches dramatics and directs our senior play. Mrs. Frankie Johnson-Mrs. Johnson is the junior class sponsor and Eng¬ lish teacher. She has the hard job of helping the juniors give the seniors a prom they will never forget. jfcwX. Mrs. Ruth Tucker -Mrs. Tucker helps make each edition of the paper better than ever. She brings the sophomores through JULIUS CAE¬ SAR and SILAS MARNER. Mrs. Mary Owen-Mrs. Owen teaches freshman English. It is easy to un¬ derstand The Rime of the Ancient Mariner when she explains it. Mrs. Betty Devlin-Mrs. Devlin spends her time teaching English to both sophomores and freshmen. )8

Mrs. Virginia Silver-In American history, Mrs. Silver helps us to learn about our American heritage. Sponsoring the Beta Club is also one of her activities. Mr. Bobby Holcomb-Mr. Holcomb is assistant football coach, basketball and baseball coach. Teaching the history of the world to five classes is his teaching assignment. Mr. Bill Stamey-Senior history is taught by Mr. Stamey. Coaching the Junior varsities in football, basket¬ ball, and baseball keeps him busy the entire school year. Mr. Carroll Shaver-The Canton High Band of Bears and the choral group are under the direction of Mr. Sha¬ ver. His music gives a boost to school activities. Mrs. Anita Churm-Our BLACK BEAR sponsor is Mrs. Churm, who also teaches world history and world geography. 20
