'vp fi x X P ii at H' 1 kit -ff' ff ' - CLASS HISTORY When I'm old and gray and rockin' all alone in my old rockin' chair, I'1l remember,l'l1 remember .... the wabbley, quaking, blunderbussing Eighth Graders who climbed in and out the wrong windows, sang off key, bought lunch room tickets from upper classmen .... the field trips and the gathering of grasshoppers. . . Don and Tom switching classes and Mrs. Rhinehart getting all discomboomerated .... Mr. Allen keeping in the girls to catch fly balls. . . the girls dating Senior boys. . . . I'll remember our Freshmen year when we had Latin night inthe day- time. . . Bootsie emerged the cham pion biscuit maker. . . Ashley lost another rib and still eleven remained .... Mrs. Kellet's loosed pearls and the aroma of scorched cheese .... Mr. Baz-kby's Travel Club ske- daddled off to Atlanta while the Basketball Team took off to Sanford . . . Torn and Judy liked each other. . . Dangling infinitives, split gerunds, appositives, utter confusion .... Sophomores! Mrs. Cathey e m barke d to Chapel Hill with the Latin Club and lo! Charles' risque pajamas. . . our c om pas sion for Silas Mariner . . . Mr. Smathers and his sagacious monitions. . . Tom and his southern drawl elected to pilot us. . Sam perceived there are girls. . Bermuda britches day for boys only - the brawny, knotty, bulgy un- derpinnings, I'll remember .... During our Junior year, Mrs. Haliburton's all-boy physics class, and our romance language. . . The Black Bears toted off the State AA Foot- ball Championship and our spirits soared. . . Charles di s c o v e r e d his golden toe . . , The Out of This World Prom. . . l'll remember Ern's sawed-off britches leg flapping in the Cullowhee breeze. . . Hypnotism ran rampant. . . We sang Dixie in history and Beaufort succumbed. . . In the fall of '57, we moved to the front pews in chapel and fleetingly wore our class rings. . . Anna took us in tow with her Danish charm. . . The Black Bears buzzed off to Charlotte in the Green Hornet . . . Bony and Gail acquired each other. . . Dale, Leo, Tom, Jeanne, Jane, Marie, Butch grew lonely and took themselves helpmates. . . Anita, Bootsie and Becky experimented with finger bowls. . . The im p r e s s i v e White Christmas . . . It blew, it snew, it thew, and then it friz again. . . . We cringed as Lady Macbeth wrung her gory hands. . . The Beta Club's Valentine program. . . When the rebels took Washington and the dramatic Senior play. . . the memorable Prom, and then the long awaited parch- ments and parting with its smiles and tears ....
