Yep, it all started one smoggy September morning in ’47 when about 180 awkward and unsuspectin’ Eighth Graders meandered over to Canton High to see what adventures awaited us. We got lost, confused, befuddled over that floatin’ period that really floats . . . Suddenly, we were surrounded bv enough books to fill the Congressional Library. . . . Completely awed, we found ourselves busilv forgettin’ lectures and home¬ work assignments. We learned no matter how hard we tried not to. . . . Inspired by our presence, the football team coasted through an undefeated season. . . . Our boys were utterly oblivious to girls’ existence, but the “o-o-ohs” and the “a-a-ahs” from our lassies when upperclassmen laddies breezed by! ... With Sam Coman’s guidance as president and Tommy Clark’s common sense as anchorage, our Ereshman year progressed smoothly. A stabilizing year on this rickety ladder of success! As Sophomores, we bedecked the school ground with “scrubbery.” . . . Dayid campaigned himself right in as EEP. . . . Jimmy emerged as the school wit. . . . We all began to absorb much-needed smatterin’s of maturity. . . . Our Junior year was a happy and fruitful one. The Junior-Senior Prom was a dream — the decorations southern enough to make George Washington feel right at home, the music jazzy enough to emphasize our modern southern helles. . . . Craig was fast qualifying himself as a satirist. . . . The Junior boys were becoming aware that there are girls, Eighth Grade girls! The long awaited day — we’re Seniors! The rings created quite a sensation among all the school except the Juniors, Sophomores, Freshmen, and Eighth Graders. ... In April, we toured up North and completely succeeded in unnerv¬ ing the City of Washington. We returned to be royally entertained at a lovely Junior-Senior Prom. The Class Play and Class night climaxed our “visit” at Canton High. . . . All too quickly came the Baccalaureate and Graduation! Looking back, it’s been a long trek, but a worthy and enjoyable one. Canton High will share in whatever success we attain, and it is our sincere desire that Canton High is a better place because of the Class of ’52. 55 JUNIOR OFFICERS Mrs. Matthews, Sarah Frank, Barbara. .
