The members who regularly attended the workshops worked hard to make deadlines and to complete the annual by the end of the school year. Putting together a book like the annual involves many hours of work like drawing layouts, ordering pictures and pasting them up, writing body copy and cutlines, and the final checks before the pages are sent into the plant to be publish- ed. This year's editor was Missy Taylor; the assistant editor was Cin- dy Taylor. | | j UPPER RIGHT The editor of the 1984-85 annual. Missy Taylor was reluctant to pose for thie ridiculous picture! Every two weeks during the school year, the ECHO staff puts out its edition of the school newspaper in the Sioux Valley News. The staff is made up of approximately thirty students. Some are reporters and writers, and others are typist. A few students have their own columns. In addition there are two editors, Missy Taylor and Patty Getting, who coor- dinate everything. They are aided by the three assistant editors, Cindy Taylor, Amy Schultz and Jill Steensland. The ECHO adviser is Miss Hass. Students use selections from published works and develop their oral presentations for competition in local, regional, and state meets. Oral Interp is an activity which em- phasizes individual skill develop- ment in the spoken arts. The 1984 all-high play was titled “Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch.” The plot of the play was about an older woman whose husband has gone off to the Yukon to stretch his horizons Mrs. Wiggs is left home with four children and a cab- bage patch. Along with spending time in her patch, she also helps old ladies like Miss Hazy find husbands, makes sure that Bob and Lucy fulfill their wedding dream, and teaches the cabbage kids their schoolin’. She’s too good to be true. Until one day, the wicked Aristotle Flint and his partner, Serifina Crumm, move in and try to destroy Mrs. Wiggs by moving her out so they can own the property which will become valuable when the railroad comes around to buy it. Mr. Wiggs returns just in time, and with a little help from Mr. Bob, the cottage is saved. 92 All-High Play TOP: Dick (Andy Miniham) trios to focus in on Aristotle Flint (Mike Jones) and Robert (Corey Ulrickson) showing their fighting ability. At first it is considered a joke, but not when Tully captures the Q- bomb from them. The whole senior class participated in the senior play this year, The Mouse That Roared.” The play was a big suc- cess, but a lot of hard work was put into it. Mr. Freese and Mrs. Trumm, the directors, started off by having tryouts and deciding the parts and jobs for the seniors. Then there were the practices — the long prac- tices, and the early morning prac- tices with donuts. Although it took a lot of time out of everyone’s schedule, it was a good time to get the Class of 1985 together and have some fun.
