This year the arts was chosen as the theme for Backtrackin' 1980. Art does not only pertain to drawings, paintings, and photographs. It can be singing in choir, playing an instrument in band, running a touchdown, making a basket, crossing the finish line first, judging livestock, constructing an outfit, or memorizing lines for a play or speech. There is an abundance of talented people roaming the halls of CHS that have gone unnoticed for a long time. We, the Backtrackin' staff of 1979-1980 dedicate this annual ir. appreciation of the artists at CHS. Karen Eliason, photographer IM MEMORY A faculty member for twenty-five years, Aries VanHunnik will always be remembered as a kind, giving man, who dedicated his life for the students of CHS. Mr. VanHunnik will long be known for the stories of his adventures in the Black Hills. To avoid any difficult work in his social studies classes, all we had to do was to get him started talking about his summers. Soon the period was over and our work was left undone. Despite these diversions, we learned to respect ourselves and our country. It's for these reasons and countless others that we, the staff of Backtrackin' 80, dedicate this annual in loving memory of Mr. Aries VanHunnik. He was a man set alone. His will like that of a mountain, His pride the colour of flags. And his life—a journey Along roads taken by few. And his death-a journey To places divine. —Jona VanHunnik CLASSES -Marton Wiebe jteib.J iMi ii m wr itawfJuc. •♦r f analu JMn$; - Randy Brenner ®lfrougff tljp gpara uip tyaue followed; in future tup atfall Ipaii.
