‘The Homecoming’ Of 1978 Is A Success It was a warm September night with a breeze of excitement for ten candidates nominated for homecoming Queen and Master. Inside the CHS armory the special event took place. The band began to play as the five girls and guys entered the armory (CENTER RIGHT, p. 6) Row One: Katy Rudolph, Ellen Hohman, Michele Thompson, Jill Roti, Lynette Block. Row Two: Brian Frislie, Randy Pederson, Vince Beck, Brian Rowe, Tim Lems. Crown bearers Ryan Olson and Kristina Ernesti (LOWER LEFT, p. 6) led the procession. The masters of ceremony for the event were Tracy Larson and Jon Sogn (TOP LEFT, p. 6). This year they told the background of the cap, sword, and crown. Also introduced were previous homecoming Masters and Queens from as far back as 1933 (CENTER LEFT, p. 6). The audience was entertained with selections by the swing choir (LOWER LEFT, p. 7) and stage band and Buz Dahl. Last year's Master and Queen crowned the excited Brian Rowe and Michele Thompson as the 1978 Homecoming royalty. A blazing bonfire was held on the tennis court after the ceremony. Friday morning's festivities began with the assembly. Master Brian's opening speech was followed by entertainment from drama class. Doing a take-off on Saturday Night Live, they danced to King Tut (LOWER RIGHT, p. 6) and portrayed the Conehead family (CENTER LEFT, p. 7). Lucky pennies were handed out to players after Queen Michele's pep talk. All classes proceded to finish their Nursery Rhyme' floats (TOP RIGHT, p. 6) for the exciting parade (LOWER RIGHT, p. 7). During alf-time of the night's game against Beresford, the high school band (TOP LE, p. 7) and drill team performed. The C-Hawks added another victory to their season. A dance sponsored by the sophomores topped the homecoming activities.
