Consistent play by seniors Mitchell Johnson, Chuck Larsgaard, Willard Hurley and Tom Reimers, and junior Alan Hurley, combined with strong bench support, assured the team of an impressive showing in conference play. Leading the C-Hawks in points per game were Will Hurley with 17.6 and Mitch Johnson with 11.4. Mitch led the team in total assists with 102, while Will added 60. Will also snared the most rebounds— 199—and his brother A1 followed with 137. Basketball fans were treated to some exciting action this season. After winning the conference, the C-Hawks travelled to Yankton to play the heavily-favored Bucks. Outstand- ing efforts by the team members pro- duced an overtime victory. Then, in the sectional final, the Vermillion Tanangers met a fired up, determined Canton team in the armory for what turned out to be one of the most thrilling games in Canton basketball history. Short, and Coach Rebnord seem to be trying to get the statistics right. Not pictured are B. Eckert and K. Pederson. The managers were kept very busy by both the two teams by washing towels and uniforms, keeping the statistics during games, and helping the injured.
