Where there is hatred, let me sow love, where there is injury, pardong where there is doubt, faith, where there is despair, hopeg where there is darkness, light, and where there is sadness, joy. from The Prayer of St. Francis Words cannot express our thanks and appreciation to the man who for the past three years has been our teacher, our guide and our friend. As a mediator between the faculty and the students, he assured us that our ideas and opinions could be voiced. Attentive to our problems, he guided us through many difficult moments with his words of wisdom and understanding. His constant encouragement helped us to strive for many academic, athletic and personal triumphs. Each of us experienced his unceasing generosity at one time or another, be it watching television in his apartment or being taxied to McDonald,s. On Sundays, we were always renewed and refreshed by his homilies, for they left us with a better understanding of ourselves, of those around us and of God. His dry wit and casual demeanor prompted us to affectionately call him Padre. Our years at Canterbury would not have been complete were it not for this man. We, the Class of 1984, dedicate with love and admiration this thirty sixth volume of the Cantuarian to Fr. Richard G. Aalyson A Friends If nobody smiled and nobody cared and Nobody helped us along, If every moment looked after itself and Good things always went to the strong, If nobody thought just a little about you and, Nobody cared about me, And we stood all alone in the battle of life, What a dreary old world this would be. Life is sweet, just because of the friends we have made, And the things which in common we share, We want to live on, not because of ourselves, But because of the people who care. It is doing and giving for somebody else, On which all life's splendor depends, And the joy of this world, when you've summed it all up, ls found in the making of friends. 52 Sacristan 6 South House Proctor 6 Social Service 6 Girls' Varsity Cross Country iMgr.l 6 Varsity Basketball 6 Varsity Softball 5, 6 1982 - 1984 Do everything you have to do, better than you have to do it! - Thanks Mom and Dad - for giving me a little push or shove, and filling my life with magic , I love you both, so very much.
