i i! Members of the High School acted out The Lottery in December. This play of controversy is about a civilization in a small hick town far away fromthe traditional which has an inhumane event every year. The Lottery is a drawing not for money or fortune but death by stoning. Even small children take this crude risk of dying. Tension builds up as each family takes their slip of telling all. The family who receives the slip of paper with dot had to draw again w I thin their family. In the play, as if predestined by the mood,Tessie Hutchinson wins the lottery and leaves the audience in honor as they were upon her stoning her to death. 119
