THfWnCH RDD TH£ UURRDROB6 How Asian, the noble lion, freed Narnia from the spell ot the White Witch. Welcome to Narnia, a delightfully magical land where talking animals, fauns, dwarfs, centaurs, and friendly giants live in peace and harmony. But, because this is a fairy tale, life in Narnia is not all goodness . When four English school children find their way into this mysterious other world, they are struck by a scene of dazzling snow — cold, silent, and forbidding. For a wicked White Witch has cursed the land with eternal winter. With the arrival of the children, the little creatures come out of hiding — it is rumored that the golden lion, Asian, their wise and gracious ruler, is on his way to Narnia. The children ' s strange and unex- pected adventures are climaxed in a glori- ous and fierce battle in which they aid the lion king in his triumph over the White Witch. This is the first story for children by the dis- tinguished English author, C. S. Lewis. Pau- line Baynes ' crisp line drawings beautifully capture the magic and mystery of Narnia. 36 THE TASTE OF SUCCESS. The Indiana Motor Bus carried thirty - nine students to the small Canadian city of Stratford where they saw A Midsummer Night ' s Dream and Romeo and Juliet , Hours were spent touring the local shops and resteraunts desperately trying to calculate the difference in Canadian money. _ After an eventful night at the local Mar-ce Motel, all were ecstatic to be able to get back to Fort Wayne, crossing the bridge between two countries. Members of the High School acted out The Lottery in December. This play of controversy is about a civilization in a small hick town far away fromthe traditional which has an inhumane event every year. The Lottery is a drawing not for money or fortune but death by stoning. Even small children take this crude risk of dying. Tension builds up as each family takes their slip of telling all. The family who receives the slip of paper with dot had to draw again w I thin their family. In the play, as if predestined by the mood,Tessie Hutchinson wins the lottery and leaves the audience in honor as they were upon her stoning her to death. 119 SPEECH Speech Team: David Caseldine, Chris Moses, Tarini Ramaprakash, Selena Hariharan, Nimish Amin, Ravi Kanagala, Orfej Najdeski Faculty Advisor: Mr. Ashton « « « ci 0$ $0) tcStf JQJS® 5 - 120 I - ' ; ' ' - B iha iJBT Bf- -■■■B BIi Bl BL ' H i Bl BLfli B B ' — BBJM iBl I ' : jl J% b s ' v h — rf — — — JBI al 1 Br MBl — |B — — .— Jfl Bp BJV, ?: BB 1 c ■ B B H : H B JL jfl ' P BJbI friendship No matter where we go or what we pretend, c our past remains with us. i part of wm I y r JimKelley 1819 S.
