Nevertheless, undaunted board members and 8th graders from the class of ' 83 broke ground (or rather snow, depending on how technical one wants to be) for Canterbury High School... and yet another dream rises in our continuing tradition of scholarly excellence. We build upon the past and rejoice in the present, but most of all we will watch our High School rise with the promise of tomorrow: a complete Canterbury community of K-12. October homecoming brought alumni, friends, students and pa rents together into one huge gala in celebration of all that Canterbury means to all of us. As the first nip of winter cooled the air and crimson leaves drifted about us, we fought the good fight one more time in soccer, stuffed ourselves with pizza, scared ourselves in the haunted house, and tried again and again in the cakewalk, and ended the evening as the Rubber Band and the Beach Boys serenaded us into the night. | V Hili . ... mmm mas  M Awards David Ashton Susan Hayhurst Randy Wat erf i eld Brian Lott Susan Maki Greg Lyng Amelia Fettig Elizabeth Simmons Leah Voors Erin Felger Peter Bobeck Melissa Dyer Megan Musgrave Alison Jones Shannon St i 1 lman Emily Kimbrough Brad McCollum Jennifer Mackel Michelle Roberts Elisa Spindler Julie Williams Chris Sessions Anne Hayhurst Brad Keoun Aaron Swihart Matt Elliott Suzanne Summers David Andrew Amy Sugarman Jonathan Ashton Mike Woodruff Mary Roth Stan Clark Michael Summers John Paflas Renata Bauman Independent Entry Traci Rittenberg Elizabeth Simmons Michael Summers Anne Hayhurst Special Design Award: Karin Rittenberg coordinated by Marcia Ashton o lJreWslory Shnmmms J jOgi coordinated by Linda Hamrick RY| gar Lessons from mousetraps, paper planes ByBILLZLATOS OfTheNtw-Stntin ! At Canterbury School, 5601 Cov- ington Road, students may never learn how to build a better mouse- trap, but they ' re learning how to build better mousetrap-powered cars and paper airplanes. Canterbury ' s first mousetrap car race and paper airplane contest — and perhaps the only one in the city — were part of the school ' 9 science fair Tuesday. The fair featured 187 exhibits. First-place winners are to take part in the regional science fair April 16 at IU-Purdue Fort Wayne. Jill ffliinnfti,,, once upon mattRess Music by MARY RODGERS Lyrics by MARSHALL BARER Directed by Joan Stanger Sets by Lindy Demyan-Lehr Music played by Marilee Porter Once upon a time there was a kingdom without a princess. The King (Jamie Rea) was a mute, whose every word was translated by his Jester (Heather Hamrick). The Jester and the Minstrel (Jonathan Ashton) entertained the Court, ruled over by the Queen (Renata Bauman) and her son Prince Dauntless the Drab (David Andrew). Sir Harry (Sean Eviston) leaves behind his bride-to-be, Lady Larkin (Julie Lentz) to find a true Princess of royal blood, Winifred (Valerie Keoun). Winifred swims the moat, proclaims herself shy, and passes the queen ' s test. At last the prince can marry, the kingdom re- joices, the king asserts himself and they all live (as in any fairy t le) happily ever after!! W! 4 K iefi Hili !
