On November 4 we held our candle-light commitment service and on November ll the meeting was an Armistice program at which the speaker was Father Savoy. Other guest speakers during the year were Dr. John G. Benson from the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis Father Wolcott and Dr. Haramy pastor of the Danville Friends Church. According to a custom set last vear we honored those who had birthdays each month with a supper. Other activities were round-table discussions hymn sings and the main event of the year the annual Pie Supper. The 'obiect behind this supper was to obtain money whereby the S. C. A could give a Christmas party for the under- privileged children from the Danville Grade School. The sum of S25.7l was made toward that goal and the beaming faces at the party were ample reward for our efforts. We are hoping that this tradition will always be kept by future Student Christian Association groups. THE CANTERBURY BLUE The purpose of the Canterbury Club is to foster on campus a better understanding of the Episcopal Church and to form the nucleus of the chapel parish. Membership in the Club is open to all students interested in furthering the interests of the Episcopal Church and Canterbury College. 'On November l4, the Club held its first annual event-the Sadie Hawkins dance-complete, with gals openly choosing the men and a still'f for Kickapoo .loy Jucie. The Club sponsored four grave-diggers and a casket for Manchester in the Homecoming parade. Our donation to the Presiding Bishop's fund was raised by means of the annual Pancake Supper held on Shrove Tuesday. The week-end of March 19-2l we sponsored an inter-college retreat conducted by Brother Anthony O.'S. F. This year the Club also took over the responsibility of providing servers, Sunday School teachers and an Altar Guild for the Chapel services. By means of these activities the Club hopes to serve better the Episcopal Church and further fellowship among The student body. - Page 26 S F l . l l 'El . SENIORS OF CANTERBURY Page 72 The Senior Class of i948 is the second graduating class of Canterbury College. lt has been a busy year for most of us, handling the usual routine matters, such as ordering Commencement invitations and caps and gowns. We also have the responsibility for publication of Canter- bury Tales of l948. We have done, our part in holding up scholar- ship ratings, participating in the major sports and promoting all activi- ties relating to campus life. In a sense it seems a long time since we were Freshmen, and for many of us it has not been the usual four year period, but instead as much as ga seven year trek. And yet most of us wish We could start over again. . We leave our Alma Mater with high hopes for the future and with fond memories of the past. We are thankful for all that Canterbury College has given us, and vve leave this school wishing Canterbury Col- lege a bright and successful future. ' J Strother Shumate Romney, lnd- Pvhys. Our last meeting was called after Convocation, February 4, 1948, tor the purpose ot making plans tor the Valentine Dance. This qualifies you to establish yourself in society, and your degree of success depends entirely on what you contribute. The rewards you have just received have been bestowed upon you as a token signifying that others who have been rewarded similar recogni- tion before you and have accepted their place in society, recognize that you have all worked faithfully together with willing hands and hearts and by so doing, assured the future guidance of the good old American way of life.
