Engineering Engineering is responsible for the operation and upkeep of the main propulsion plant, auxiliary machin- ery, piping systems, damage con- trol, electrical power generators, internal ship ' s communications, and maintenance of all equipment throughout the ship beyond the ca- pabilities of other departments.
