A knowledge of one's own language and of the language of others enables students to grasp ideas quickly, to express thoughts intelligently, and to become more under- standing persons. Correct speech is needed in every Walk of life and by everybody. There is a need for improvement. The edu- cational program provides for a four-year study of English and for a two-year study each of Latin, French, and Spanish. The use of records, movies, book reports, oral and written themes, games, conversations, dramatizations, voice recordings, and library assignments vary daily classes.

tudents Use Their Talent For Music Mr. Louis Scarci High school band direc- torg gives group and individual instructiong su- pervises majorettes and flag-twirlers. Mr. Francis Comer Instructs the girls, cho- rusg is music supervisor in the Canonsburg School District. The spring concert of the girls' chorus is a gala affair enjoyed by the school and community. r Students find their music studies instructive and enjoyable. Music is an outlet for emotion, a chance for self-expression, and a means of service to the school and community. The program in music offers group and individual instruction in voice and instrument. Latent talent comes to the fore through the daily practice periods. The band is open to both boys and girls. Each year the band continues to school and community.
