In addition to various social activities such as sponsering the Homecoming celebration and the Valen- tines dance. They were also responsible for collecting reading materials for the New Silent Reading PRogram. We were treated to two movies by the Student Council. At Christmas time you could have your picture taken with Santa and his elves. They even added a few new activities such as planning a menu for the cafeteria one day and having exchange students from Chartiers Houston High school. They Finished out the year by entering a float in the Washington parade. None of these activities would have accomplished with out the help, of their new sponsor Mr. Phillips and of course this years officers. Q ,M f- :ld The National Honor Society is an organization filled with many diverse and multifa- ceted students. To be inducted into this organization the student must of attained a grade average of 3.7, possess outstanding leadership qualities and be noted for their services contributed to the school and community. Our members this year were able to go on a trip to New York for the purpose of educational development and expansion. Their four day trip included visiting such sites as: Greenwich Village, Statue of Liberty, China Town, Empire State Building. Radio City Music Hall and the hit Broadway show, Chorus Line . To help pay for the costs of the New York trip the members held bake sales and sold Sarris candy bars. lnducted into this year's Canon McMillan Chapter of the National Honor Society were 40 juniors and 7 seniors with 20 returning senior members taking part in the ceremonies. This year's officers were: President-Marcia Minor Vice President-Karen Lynch Secretary-Tricia Derrico Treasurer-Melody Garber
