CAGERS FACED PERPLEXING PROGRAM Canon-McMillan Senior High School's basketball team looked forward to the future. During the 1959-60 season most of the basketball fans were viewing a new style of play, more team spirit, and more enthusiastic coach- ing whenever the Big Mac varsity team played their games. Although the team did not win a great many games, as their six and sixteen record showed, the stressing of fundamentals of basketball, improvements in skill of the players, were very noticeable. Larry Bender received recognition for his tremendous performance on the court tioor. Senior captain of the cagers, Bender was the leading scorer in Section IV. The coaches in the district selected Bender as the Most Valuable Player. At the All Sports Club Banquet honor- ing varsity and reserve teams, Bender received a trophy for outstanding work on the basketball floor. Letter winners this year included senior, Larry Brown, sophomores, Ken Thornton, Neil Veydt, Bob Lamb, Ty- rone Anderson, and Ronald Rodinsky. Thornton and Veydt gave fine performances this year and may be the best backcourt combination next year in league play. Coach Kuzma, formerly a player at Duquesne Uni- versity and selected Small College Coach of Year 1958, keeps a watchful eye on the development of 6'3 Tyrone Anderson, and 6'1 Bob Lamb, who will have most of the heavy rebound work again. Two high scorers from this year's reserve team, Steve Duchi and John Przenkop will fight for starting positions. The student body of Canon-McMillan Senior High School awaits the 1960-61 basketball season anxiously. Bender shoots a rebound.
