We, the class of 1953, dedicate this annual to the Spirit of the Philosophy found in Canon City High School. Because of this philosophy, we have come to realize more fully the Democratic way of life and that we are heirs of a rich heritage. We have gained self-confidence and a feeling of security for the more serious years to come. Through the course of study and the entire school en- vironment, we have found an interest in learning and an ap- preciation of the beautiful, not only thru art and music, but through the practical arts, the extra curricular activities, and a worthwhile recreational program. We have been taught that we are to learn not because of the threat of punishment, but because it is the right thing to do. All young people are inherently goodg they mean to be honest, friendly, and co-operative and they are willing, in- deed prefer, to do the right thing if properly motivated. This pilosophy of the administration and faculty is felt and appreciated by the students. With this guidance and an atmosphere of friendliness, school has been a happy experience that we will remember throughout life. 7aD 2
