The only way I can distinguish the C. Rays is by Claudefs eagerness to recite. Fremont County Leader, August, 1914: A unique sewing party took place at the home of W'ilbur Combs last 'Friday after- noon. 'l'he pennant committee of the Sophomore Class of C. C. H. S., including' the Misses Esther Manlove, Irma Miittou, 'Theo Emmerson. Sarah -i?l2lI'CllI1f2'. and Ruth Goodrich, met to design the class pennant. The pennant has a red background with a white seal of very original type. The sew- ing' is all being done by hand, and the boys are found as efhcient in this capacity as the girls. Statistical Report of Scholarship List for Second Semester: Gif the thirty High School students showing the best average in their work the juniors claimi tenj Cf the eight ranking highest there are live of this class. Miss Theo Emmerson holds first place.-Q.l rom C. E. Lauterbachls Memorandumj. Canon City Daily Record: The junior-Senior banquet was given at the Miller Hotel last evening. The ta- bles were beautifully decorated in orange and black, the Senior's class colors. The room was lighted with candles, which shed a soft glow over the faces of all-. A flash light picture was taken immediately after the company was seated.. This year's ban- quet is said to have been the prettiest one for many years. The dinner was delicious. and the toasts which followed were very good. Professor Lauterbach was toastrnas- ter, and several from both classes responded with toasts. lgl,'Sfi'lf 2??'L.mlfZ,f'?KJ?JfLL-E2.ff:?2f5i1?lLC'f 2?6J?'lrC59'?2Z.i1?lfLglgEll't'?lt57Z-7 2?E.J?lifLC-77'?KJ?JLf537'?2Z1?lf-Li?272ziJ'lLC' km rn wi ffnrs? Following' the preliminaries Alfred Sin- den and Leslie Glanville were lined up for the aflirinative. and I-lunter Palnier and I-larl Tanner were assigned the negative. The affirmative maintained that a per- manent econornic prosperity. American ideals, and a true neutrality deniiandecl an einfbargo. The negative contended that a sound economic policy. nioral ideals, and neutrality were opposed to an embargo. When Friday, Mlarch I7tl1, came both sides conclusively proved their arguments. The affirmative team deserves great credit for winning. They were the only af- iirirative team to win upon this side of the question, admitted to he the weaker. 'lihe new gymnasium made it possible to do more ell'ective work during the stormy days. This year, for the iirst time, target drill was started. At least three afternoons 1 week are spent at target practice. '.I he kneel- ing. standing' and prone positions were used at at range of 2oo yards. This is proving excellent practice and gives actual service. Much skirmish work is also used. Two medfils will be Qiven for target work. This spring' Fl military base ball league has been started. Based upon this division we avoid the harmful class rivalry and add interest in military work as well. A school for the non-conilniissioned ofli- cers was organized which meets every Xvefinesflnyf mornin! HT X o'cloc'lc. New suits were supplied by the school board, together with a complete outfit, and under Coach Georges instruction it was not long before good Iielding, base running, and hit- ting were the order of the Iield. The battery, consisting of Rabsahl, Boyle and Xlfalsh, was very inconsiderate of the hits allowed the opponents Boylt-'s peg to second was a marvel. Sel- dom were any bases stolen on him. The infield was fairly air tight, with Parks star- ring on iirst. Kennedy was the star of the outfield. Three games were played, and two of them were won. In the hrst, against an all star Canon team, Rabsahl's pitching was so clever that we won easily, 6-3. On May 7 we went to Centennial at Pueblo and came home with the short end of a 5-2 score. The tables were turned on the Bull Dogs on our home grounds, N ay Zl, by Canons winni'l'ig 9-8. The line up was as follows: Boyle. lYalsh c, Rabsahl p, Parks rb, Tanner 2b. Mlatlcin ss. McClintock 3b, Kennedy lf, O'l3rien cf, Sharman rf, Ericson, Corrin, XfVilkin subs. 'Prospects for 1916 are bright.
