After ten years of observation, Jimmy Walker is still trying to determine the exact width of the equator. James Grass has taken over the Carolina Coach Company. Jackie Walker is now living in Salisbury, working at Belk's Department Store as an office girl. Pauline Yon Reavis is serving as a dietitian at the Y.M.C.A. in Knnnapolis. She and her husband have just bought a small home. Joe Little is running a large boarding house down in Calie fornia for the beautiful women of the world. ln the circus business, Jimmy Pro st is the proprietor of Ringling Brothers circus. Thomas Nast waters the ele hants. Costumes for the acts of the circus and for New York's lbiggest designing company are designed by Anne Walters. Jackie Nichols is an employee in Lipe's office. You can also find Corine Starnes and Linn Reid Rogers, now husband and wife, working there. Bill Ritchie is teaching cheering at Lenoir Rhyne. Edward Sheets is one of his students. Phyllis Davis has been teaching Utwirling and struttin' at Columbia University. Nita Joan Petrea teaches shorthand in King's Business College. Christine GriHin and Evelyn Harbison are employed at My Shop where Doris Deese is the new cashier and Betty Kerley, the manager. Harriet llartis is now the girl who is photographed for the Charm Curl Bobbie Pin Company. Kenneth Lentz is a mechanic at the Johnson Furniture Company, owned by Hoyte Johnson. Colleen Gurley and Dollie Groff are Bible teachers at Catawba College. Barbara Turner is one of the sponsors for Benny Goodman's Band. E. H. Willeford is a Baptist preacher in Massachusetts. His church educational director is Zoe Messer. Greta Sue Cashion is one of the most dignified opera singers. Also, you will find Velton Smith in the opera. Susie Adams, after majoring in art at art school, is the artist for the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Her newest picture is Venus de Milo with Arms. Glennette Moon and Betty Jean Potts are sponsors for the Teen-Age Canteen in Kannapolis. The most talked-about boy, who just made his debut at the Stork Club, where Jo Ann Jones is one of the famous enter- tainers, is Homer Christy. He has just finished writing a big play entitled Be Sweet to Me. Joanna Herman is the owner of Duffy's Restaurant, where Jurell McLean and Avis Ann Conner are waitresses. C. A. Suther and Charles Shepherd are in the butcher business. Bill Sloop and Winton Lowe are hell drivers at the race track in Richmond, Virginia. Martha and Mildred Clampet have opened a new cradle shop in Jackson Park. Geraldine Powell, Elizabeth Campbell and Betty Jean Cashion are teachers at Wake Forest, where Billy Anderson :is the dignified professor. Bobby Branch has a horse farm out in Texas. Grady Strube and Paul Tucker are two of his busiest ranch hands. s Donormr HAMPTON, Prophet Kathryn Bowers, Helen Tipton and Dorothy Kiser are suc- cessful chemists. Bobby Tilley, having finished college, is the director for public speaking classes in the J. W. Cannon High School. Carole Wilson, Betty Witherspoon and Gladie VVhitley are well-known interior decorators. Jerlean Watson and Frances Spry are traveling saleswomen for Avon products. Duane Starnes owns a successful insurance company with Alvin Simmons as one of his employees. Mr. Starpes has an- nounced that he is plannin to make Alvin vice-president of his corporation in the near future. Colleen Spry and Bette Harris are educational directors at Wingate Junior College. Evelyn Stewart and Margaret Thompson are in the manu- facturing business. CThey manufacture soft hearts for the men.J Jerry Wagoner is a big hit on Broadway portraying Al Jolson. Martha Stiller and Mildred Sisk are in the drapery business. Donald Castor finished his encyclopedia the other day having the lives of famous men and women in it. CThe class of '49 are the persons talked about.j Phyllis Johnson has been in Arabia for the last two years as a war correspondent and Betty Bgr inger is in Africa repre- senting the same paper. Dorothy Byrd, Helen Byrd and Kathleen Hinson are on a world-wide tour. Emalee Long and Sylvia Lowder are manufacturers of famous lipsticks. Geraldine Morris is a violinist in the Little Symphony Orchestra. Joyce Canup, Lelia Mae Christy and Geraldine Mullis are designers for crystal patterns at the Jewel Shoppe. Doris Towell and Pauline Doolittle design patterns of china. CLASS PHUPHEEY The casual sight of an old commencement program, which l picked up the other day-I know not by what chance it was preserved so long-tempts me to call to mind the Seniors who made the principal figure in it. Margaret Bragg, Miss Cannon High, is now a model for Grover Edmiston, who owns Glamour Inc., located in New York near the John Powers Modeling Agency, owned by Richard Wa oner and Boyce Yates. They have as their most pular momiils Margaret Gaither, Doris Overcash, Bette Wat- kilns and Patsy Glass. Workin in the newspaper business are Ned Robinette and Eugene Vsomble as coeditors of the New York Times. On their staff are Nina Ruth Glass and Lois Freeman. Lincoln lung is the business manager. Gerald Blackbum has won the American Hall of Fame as the best baseball pitcher for the Philadelphia Athletics. Also on the team we find Eddie Bost, always holding the third base position perfectly. The nationally known professional football players, with Dennis Daye as captain, have made the lon sought seasonal win. Len rice, Bill Foil and Harold Rodgers were a few of the most outstandying players. Bill Howard, Paul Fritts, Bill Harrell, Akins Chastain and Mack Russell, better known as the Dead End Kids, have I-ust finished the greatest comedy of all time, Run for Your ives. By the way, Harold Griffin was the producer. The picture was made at R.K.0. Studios, of which Harold is owner. Doris Harrington and Barbara Simmons are co-owners of the beautiful Fashion Shoppe for women in Florida. Their motto is We always fit the right lady to the right size. Jimmy Whitley., who followed in the footsteps of his father, now owns a c ain of theaters stretching throughout the country. Nat Gilliam, the most famous comedian ever to be born, appears at Iimmy's theater quite frequently. The most interesting! discovery has been made by Sylvia Thompson. CIt's for e benefit of the women.J She has discovered a new hose, Sl gauge, 15 denier, that won't run. The growth epidemic has started in our dear ole home town but only Freda ngram, Bobbye Steele and Phyllis Yoder were affected. CSoon they will be two of the most outstanding models rn New York.D Because of old age, Walter Pidgeon and Greer Garson have signed their contracts over to Lloyd Avant and Hazel Rowland, w o made a hit in the hilarious mystery comedy, Drums of Death. Dot Hampton is their producer and director. The Armed Forces have taken quite a number of our men: Hollin Baker and Buddie Lipe are serving in the Army Air Corps, Hugh Slawsan in the United States Marines. Delores Reid is the librarian at the Kentucky Institute for the Blind and Doris Rimer has taken Mrs. Shinn's position at the Y.M.C.A. Betty Bumgamer is one of the many air stewardesses for Rayvon Perdue, president of Eastem Airlines. Arlin Ross, the famous magician, has Betty Shepherd sleep- walking ever? night at twelve o'cloclt. She always wakes up at the end o a pond. CEr, lagoon.j Mariorie Meacham has iust been elected to serve as adviser for the National Future Homemakers of America for the next two years. A big convention is lanned for June 20, at which time she will take over her ofhce. Bemice Sloop and Betty Nelson are nurses at the Rowan Memorial Hospital. Amon the welfare nurses in Baltimore, Maryland, we find Mary Ehristy. Mary Anne Riggs, Iohnsie Mullis, Dollie Kesler, Betty Moon and Johnnie He ms are the happy little housewives of our fair city. Doris Howard Gabriel and her husband are living in Ken- tucky, where they have already started a family. Iris Gatton and her husband now live in Michigan, up near the Great Lakes, where lris can take a dip in the water whenever she esires. d Page Twenty-eight AmongB the professional swimmers of our day, we find Marlene aker, who won an award from the Richmond Swim- ming Agencv. Betty Shoaf is a Baptist Foreign Missionary stationed in Africa, where she teaches school. Kenneth Byrd is also a well- known missionary. Because of the demand, Audrey Vanderburg has iust com- pleted a new version of Begin the Beguine. She made millions of dollars on the song. Might I mention, the public went wild? Kannapolis has a new women's police force with Doris Shaver as chief. Her assistant is Dorothy Clontz. Bett jean Snipes is one of the outstanding secretaries for Donald, Phillips, present owner of the Cannon Mills. Fay Gray and Peggy Cooke have broken the speed record for typists, having reached the 200-word-a-minute scale. Bobby Linn is a state highway patrolman, who keeps the highways warm, chasin those rsons Cand even animalsD oing over the speed limit, andw checking up on accidents happening on the highways and elsewhere. Clarice Bamhardt and Doris Carter are telephone operators. Their most used ghrases are: Number Please , Sorry, Wrong Number , and usy. Jamie Austin has been teaching voice at the Shenandoah Conservatory of Music to her star pupil, Ray Clayton. Barbara Aderhold operates an antique shop, where Amos Abemathy, still a bac elor, goes to buy all his girl friends their special gifts. Lorna Duvall is opening the new florist shop in Salisbury tomorrow, where ten-dol ar orchids will be given away. CProvided you pay the ten dollarslj Bobby Champion is sheriff of Rustler's Patch, a small city in the West, where the most goings on happen. Norman Coggins plays the piano at the Metropolitan Opera. Betty Brigman, his wife, ap ears every night at the concert hall to hear her husband. lgelen Brinkley is teaching piano at Appalachian State Teachers' College. Billy Max Hargett, playing the trombone on the side, has a famous name band with Raymond lcard, comet soloist, and Kathleen Brown, vocalist. Dorothy Benfield has ma'ored in business education and is teaching typing and shorthand at King's Business College. I The Best Loved Poems on Love has ljxust been completed by Jerry Home and accepted by a publis ingl company in New York. It is expected that these poems wil arouse much en- thusiasm on the subject. The bi est Presidential election in years is just over and James Hiizglies has won. Harold Bost is expected to become the Vice-President. President Hughes has chosen as his cabinet members: Secretary of State, GuyNHendren, Secretary of the Treasury, Roy Deal, Secretary of ar, Allan Collins, Attorney General, Lloyd Raye, Postmaster General, Clyde Moose, Secre- tary of the Navy, Bobby Shinn, Secretary of the Interior, Bessie Clark, Secretary of Agriculture, L.
