wi -- CLASS PROPHECY The past three days have been the most exciting ones in my whole life. After return- ing from a trip to lX'Iars in one of Bobbie Fink's latest Rocket Ships, to my surprise I found the United States in a terrific uproar. The President and his entire Cabinet had been killed in a let car accident while on their way from the White House to Rabb's Pool Saloon, a small ioint owned and operated by Charlie Babb and his grandmother. Dear Diary: I returned to the States iust in time for the inauguration of the new president, Sam Scott, who had been an outstanding spokes- man while vice-president of the United States in the iight against Communism and Socialism. Last night, the First Lady, lVIrs. Nlargaret Stewart, was hostess to one of the most elegant inaugural balls ever held in the White House. At that time the President announced his Cabinet: Secretary of State, Kineson lung, Secretary GLADYS LEE OATES of Treasury, David Burr, Secretary of War, Prophet lohn Russell, Attorney General, Wayne Bragg, Postmaster-General, Curtis Rogers, Secretary of Navy, Fred Rogers, Secretary of Interior, Lloyd Ketner, Secretary of Agriculture, Douglas Freeman, Secretary of Commerce, James Bowles, Secretary of Labor, Howard Honevcutt. Diary, you should have seen all the aristocrats. The special guests were the Governor of New York, Iloward Graham, Speaker of the House, Glenn Richardson, Supreme Court Justice, immy hloser, Governor of North Carolina, Ray Sides, Foreign Ambassadors, and many other amous pgliticians. lNIGlNl's Keith Boyer Verble and Iris i'Lamour Harrington added glamour to thc a air. The sensational trumpet of lay Wise filled the air with swing and classical music. Ronald '4Krupa Alexander was terrific at the drums, and Billie Carl', Menscer could really ring out that piano. A quartet composed of Arbutus Morton, lVIartha Barnhardt, lo Ann Kincaid, and Geraldine Poole sang the President's favorite song- Civilization Bobbie Ann Bray, who has iust returned from Europe, where she proved herself famous by impersonating the old Spike lones records, and Virginia Mann and George Petrea, RKO's wittiest actress and actor, supplied the party with plenty of laughs. Betty Honeycutt, Metropolitan pianist and the world's most famous composer, played Rachmaninoffis Second Concerto and Schumann's A-lllinor Concerto. President Scott received a television telegram from Thelma Angell, who is a missionary in Brazil, sending her congratulations and best wishes. I was gratified to hear that so many of my classmates had turned to the Mission Field-Evelyn Benlield, Iacqueline Bodie, Dorothy Bowers, Floreita Daniels, L. D. Gray, Helen Shaver, Ruby Sherrill, Betty Riddle, Frances Litaker, and Clara Sue Frye. I was delighted to run upon Bill Bailes, who was editor of our high school paper and is now editor of the New York Times. Allie Bell Biles, Margaret Weddington, Betty Io Petrea, Ierlean Hinson, Nellie Lingerfelt, and Betty Sue Daniels are on the advertising staff, and as Bill reports, they are keeping up the good work they did in high school. Frankie Fincher is News Editor, E. H. VVilliford is Sports Editor. Betty Kennedy, Society Editor, was a great help to me in checking up on my classmates. She told me of the many marriages. Couples from the class who have settled down are: Helen Black and Ottis Oliver, Bill Bowles and Nellie Hanrrick, Ruby Poteat and john Chambers, Aubrey Bragg and Sarah Miller. Those married before and a year after graduation are: Bobbie Lee Elliott Cline, Martha McDowell Taylor, Warida G. Irvin, Ruby Sloop. and Ioyce Campbell Sprinkle. Others that have married recently are: Merle Dendy, Margaret Edwards, Bonnie ean Eudy, Mary Lou Louder, Leretta Hilburn, Guynell Smith, Beverly Nicholson, Dorothy Phi lips, Frances Varner, and Ruth White. As for the big business men about Washington and New York, Benny Lee has the largest real estate business in the country. Fred Childers and Ray Fryer own the Powers Models Company with lane Hethcock, Betsy Bracewell, Loma Freeze and HDeenie Safrit as outstanding models. These were all present at the Ball and aroused many a cheer and whistle. H. P. Cannon and lohnny Benton own a chain of atom stations for cars, planes and submarplanes.
