HISTORY Early in September in the year of our Lord nineteen- hundred and forty-two, a small group of students en- tered the doors of K. H. S. Although the group was small in number it was great in power, and was soon to make a name for itself. That first ye-ar we, the fresh- man class, did not have the privilege of having class officers, for we were so few in number we had to be put in with the sophomores. We struggled through our studies, and the next year we dropped our names of Mgreen freshmen and became sophomores. With our rise in rating we also had a rise in confidence in ourselves, we were a little less 'afraid of slipping, This year we selected as our class oflicers: Betty Benton, President: Bobby Barger, Vice-President: Margaret Chisholm, Secre- tary. Under their guidance we had a very successful year. We again changed our names, this time to juniors. We were very proud of the fact that we had successfully completed two years of high school, but we were to End that there was much hard work ahead of us. With Mrs. Coleman and Misses Ruth Orders and Julia Oates as our advisers, we selected our class ofiicersz Johnny Felker, President, Betty Payne, Vice-President, Colon Critz, Secretary: Hardie Pilkinton, Treasurer, We presented as our class play, Ml-le Was A Gay Senoritan, which was under the direction of Miss Oates. The event which rated above all that year was the Junior-Senior Prom. Time passed quickly, and again we changed our names. This time we called ourselves seniors. Proof was soon found that there was much work to being a senior, so we settled down to 'accomplish the tasks set before us. This year our officers were: Ray Voss, President: Ray Frye, Vice-President: Betty Benton, Secretaryg Doris Williams, Treasurer. Our advisers were Mrs. Richmond Smith and Miss Loraine Gray. Along with the work we enjoyed the many activities around the school: dances, basketball, football, and all the others, but nothing could top the wonderful times we had at the Senior-Junior and Junior-Senior. At last Graduation day came. Some of us were happy, some sad to be leaving the school we had come to love. We were now ready to accept any challenge the future held for us.
