SENIOR CLASS POEM The road we’ve traveled hasn’t been an easy one Nor a very, very difficult one either, you can bet, But we ' ve finally finished one lap of the way, And we’ve to finish the remaining ones yet. They won’t be as easy as the one we’ve passed, But we’ll all work with more zeal Until the future is all past and gone, And many of our dreams have become real. To all the students we’re leaving behind, Our best wishes for the future we leave. May they travel the road we’ve gone over before them And many more helps receive. Than we, who are leaving with many regrets And many more happy memories and thoughts Of the pleasant years we’ve spent here at school And of the many battles we’ve fought. To gain the places we now occupy and are giving up To the students who will take those positions To carry on the work we’ve left for them to do, That of studying hard, and keeping up old traditions. We, the Seniors are proud of our school And proud to be students here So for Cannon High School, you can always be sure We’re ready to give a lusty cheer. Though we are leaving, we’ll never forget, And our memories will always be clear Of the happy days we’ve spent at high school, And those memories will be held very dear. From year to year, as the years pass by, We’ll remember our high school days, And always, even in the latest years, Our school will receive our very highest praise. — By Gaynelle Cooke. 6
