A dedication to James Jimmy Earl Dickerson who drown on July 29, 1978. Though you are not here on this day To watch us say goodbye; You are. Though you were not here to watch us dance At either of our Proms, Yo.u were. Though we can only remember you As a freshman of younger We watched you grow beside us. You were always there. And though you are not here this day To wear a tassel and a robe We see you standing there. We can not feel the feelings that you may feel for us We can not feel the love that you had for all your friends But, we are sure, that you feel our ever-lasting love. Perhaps you did not attend all of the ballgames that we did, Perhaps you did not see all the wins and loses that we saw, But still we felt your presence there. As we each step forth today With our diplomia in our hands, As v e climb the ladder of success We see you at the top and you are there, You simply reached it sooner than the rest of us.
