VOTLENNAC CANNELTON, INDIANA CANNELTON HIGH SCHOOL NOTLENNAC CANNELTON, INDIANA 1981 You've only been here two years, but you have shown interest and encouragement to our class as though an old friend. We love you Miss St. Onge, and it will be a great loss to us when we leave C.H.S. and you behind; however, through your guidance, understanding, and encouragement, we will survive in the world holding onto the memories of you from the past. FOREVER, THANK YOU!!!!!!! A dedication to James Jimmy Earl Dickerson who drown on July 29, 1978. Though you are not here on this day To watch us say goodbye; You are. Though you were not here to watch us dance At either of our Proms, Yo.u were. Though we can only remember you As a freshman of younger We watched you grow beside us. You were always there. And though you are not here this day To wear a tassel and a robe We see you standing there. We can not feel the feelings that you may feel for us We can not feel the love that you had for all your friends But, we are sure, that you feel our ever-lasting love. Perhaps you did not attend all of the ballgames that we did, Perhaps you did not see all the wins and loses that we saw, But still we felt your presence there. As we each step forth today With our diplomia in our hands, As v e climb the ladder of success We see you at the top and you are there, You simply reached it sooner than the rest of us. You may be gone, forever more, But we can feel you here, This is just to let you know; You are a lost, but not forgotten friend, whom we love dearly. Standing: Chris Herzog, John Oliva, Rob Rausch, Brian Hess, Marty Hafele, Greg Pedro, John Tinsley, Mark Yonker, Danny Zellers, and Jonathon Harris. In its first year, the CHS Science Club achieved many things, including one that almost everyone said was impossible. With a lot of determination and hard work, at k:00 a.m. on March 19, 1981, Science Club members were on their way to Chicago, In order for their dream to become a reality, the students and their parents joined together for a lot of hard work. Money-making projects held during the year were a hayride in October, a raffle in February, a shooting match in March (sponsored by the parents of the Science Club members), and two bake sales. The students spent four days and three nights in Chicago, staying in the Conrad Hilton Hotel. While in Chicago, the students visited the Shedd Aquarium, the Sears Tower, the Museum of Natural History, the museum of Science and Industry, and the Adler Planetarium. They also had an opportunity to shop at Water Tower Place, the largest indoor shopping mall, and see the musical, My Fair Lady. The trip was chaparoned by Maude Kendall, Norman Herzog, and Ms. Brewer. Persons attending the Chicago trip: Mindy Herzog, Miss Brewer, Chris Herzog, Mike Sims, John Yaggi, Jerri Corley, Julie Paulin, Tony James, John Tinsley, John Oliva, Marc Yonker, Rob Rausch, Norman Herzog, Marty Hafele, and Todd Kendall. We would like to make a special thanks to Dr. Hargis Bush of Cannelton for making the trip possible. Dr. Bush donated $h00 for the trip, and the students wish to recognize him by dedicating the trip to his name. The Science Club also held a carry-in dinner for him on May 3.
