Class History In September 1950 forty-five Freshies enrolled in C. H. S. At our first class meeting we elected the following officers: Bill Farquhar, President; Betty Spencer, Vice-President; Richard Bauer, Secretary; and Dorothy Robbins, Treasurer. Student Council members were Joyce Dutschke and Bob Robinson. Mr. Little and Mrs. Clark were chosen to be our class sponsors. Scholarship awards were received by Theresa Payne and Joe Mogan. Athletic award was received by Harry Lain, and Activity award by Bill Farquhar. We then advanced from the green freshman, to the silly Sophomore stage. In our Sophomore year our class enrollment decreased to thirty-five with President Bob Robinson presiding over the class during the election of officers. They were: Bill Northenor, Vice-President; Nancy Spencer, Secretary; Earl Hay, Treasurer; and Joyce Dutschke, Historian. Student Council members were Theresa Payne and Joseph Mogan. Our class sponsor this year was Mr. Hargis Hafele. The Jolly Juniors entered the new school year with thirty-two pupils. Mrs . Grace Redmon and Mr. Edgar Etienne were elected class sponsors. The class officers were: President, Bill Northenor; Vice-President, Theresa Payne; Secretary, Gene Clemens; Treasurer, Joe Mogan; and Historian, Joyce Dutschke. Student Council members were Bob Robinson, Joyce Dutschke, and Bill Farquhar. With the absence of Bob Robinson, Earl Hay was chosen to take his place. This year we were hosts to the Seniors at the Junior-Senior Prom. The prom, named Blue Moon Prom, was held at the Hoosier Heights Country Club. Entertainment was provided by Three Blocks and a Chip, and Dixie Davis and his orchestra. Nancy and Betty Spencer were honored this year by being selected for Girl's State. They were sponsored by the Business and Professional Women's Club and the American Legion Auxiliary. Shirley Young and Nellie Schraner were their alternates. Garry Anderson was selected for Boy's State. Betty Spencer was chosen cheerleader by popular Vote This year we received our class jackets and elass rings. During our last and most important year as dignified seniors, class officers were: Bill Northenor, President; Nancy Spencer, Vice-President; Nellie Schraner, Secretary; Shirley Young, Treasurer; and Joyce Dutschke, Historian. Nellie Schraner, Shirley Young, Joe Mogan, and Bill Northenor represented our class in the Student Council. New cheerleaders were chosen this year. Those that are Seniors were Iverne Zellers, Betty Spencer, Gene Clemens, and Bill Northenor. Shirley Young was crowned Basketball Queen and Betty Spencer was crowned Football Queen. Both are members of the Senior Class. The ceremonies were both conducted with the help of the band and the basketball and football teams. Under the direction of Mrs. Vaughn, the Senior play cast presented The Groom Said No! Those in the cast were: Bill Northenor, Betty Bryant, Nancy Spencer, Theresa Payne, Jimmy Powers, Earl Hay, Naomi Veatch, Garry Anderson, Betty Spencer, Barbara Alvey, and Joyce Dutschke. We chose as our motto, Beyond is Success, blue and white for our class colors, and the American Beauty Rose as our class flower. We were guests of the Junior Class at the Junior Senior prom, which was carried out in the Moulin Rouge theme. Johnny Elder and Joyce Dutschke were crowned Prom Kind and Queen. We went to St. Louis on our class outing. This outing was enjoyed not only by our class but also by our sponsors, Mrs. Vaughn and Mr. Etienne.

Class Will We, the Senior Class, of Cannelton High School, ol the city of Cannelton, county of Perry, and state of Indiana, being of sound mind and memory, do hereby make, publish, and declare this to be our last will and testament, hereby revoking any will or wills heretofore made by us. I, Barbara Alvey, will my heighth, plus the heighth that was willed to me by Anna Hicks in '51, to Shirley Daum. Now you can be short, average, or tall, whichever suits your date most. I, Joe Mogan, will my government book to anyone crazy enough to want it. I, Shirley Young, will my ability to sew straight seams on my projects in Home Ec, to Joan Adams. Pass it on to someone who needs it, Joan. I, Garry Anderson, will my role as father in the senior play to Robert Cronin. I, Jim Paulin, will my collection of Readers Digest magazines to Martin Morris. Be careful! Don't let Coach Hafele get hold of them. I, Arthur Poore, will my cornet to Betty Freeman. You'll be a good one to argue on the cornets side for a change, Betty. I, Nellie Schraner, will my quiet ways to Doris Holland. May it keep you out of trouble, Doris. I, Joyce Dutschke, will the freckles that I was willed last year, plus all my own, to Lizzie Polk. Take good care of them Liz, because you will have them for a long time. I, Gerald Jacobs, will my basketball suit and also the honor of being basketball captain to Marvin Sturgeon. I, Veneta Morris, will my heighth and weight to Joan Adams. I, Bill Vaught, will my good looks, curly hair, ability to play the guitar, plus my way with women, to J. C. Basham. Take good care of them. Boy. I, Harry Lain, will my ability in football to Larry Polk. I, Lee Reed, will my ability to play tenor Sax to Charles Seibert. I, Jim Powers, will my fencing ability, my way with women, and my cigarette butts, to Jerry J ones. I, Alma Payne, will my ambition to get someplace to anybody who wants it. I, Bill Northenor, will my ability to make all conference during my first year of playing football, to Louie Snyder. I, Betty Spencer, will my football crown to Sandy Braun, and my position as varsity cheerleader to my sister, Marian. I hope you girls will be as proud of each as I have been. I, Betty Bryant, will my flute to anyone who has muscles strong enough to carry it around. I, Bill Farquhar, will my position as center on the football team to Willie Downs. I, Gene Clemens, will my position as varsity cheerleader to Larry Reed. We, Johnny Elder and Earl Hay. will our motto, which the Senior Class would not accept, Do it, and then think about it, to the Sophomore Class. It seems to suit you better anyway. I, Dee Dee Zellers, will my cheerleader position to Mary Ann Etienne. I, Bill Lain, will my tacit personality to Thelma Reiser. Do you know what it means, Thelma? I, Richard Bauer, will my straight A's in government to David Huber. They might look a bit different from the A's to which you are accustomed. I, Theresa Payne, will my presidency of the National Honor Society to Patsy Sinclair. I, Naomi Veatcb will my red hair to Mary Rita Smallwood. I, Nancy Spencer, will my turned up nose to Kay Gilbert. I'm glad to get rid of it, Kay. I, Eric Whitehead, will my nickname, Pedro, to Chester Mathena I, Phyllis Clements, will my ability to get my speeches for speech class ready in the nick of time, to Eva Goffinet.
