Class History In September 1950 forty-five Freshies enrolled in C. H. S. At our first class meeting we elected the following officers: Bill Farquhar, President; Betty Spencer, Vice-President; Richard Bauer, Secretary; and Dorothy Robbins, Treasurer. Student Council members were Joyce Dutschke and Bob Robinson. Mr. Little and Mrs. Clark were chosen to be our class sponsors. Scholarship awards were received by Theresa Payne and Joe Mogan. Athletic award was received by Harry Lain, and Activity award by Bill Farquhar. We then advanced from the green freshman, to the silly Sophomore stage. In our Sophomore year our class enrollment decreased to thirty-five with President Bob Robinson presiding over the class during the election of officers. They were: Bill Northenor, Vice-President; Nancy Spencer, Secretary; Earl Hay, Treasurer; and Joyce Dutschke, Historian. Student Council members were Theresa Payne and Joseph Mogan. Our class sponsor this year was Mr. Hargis Hafele. The Jolly Juniors entered the new school year with thirty-two pupils. Mrs . Grace Redmon and Mr. Edgar Etienne were elected class sponsors. The class officers were: President, Bill Northenor; Vice-President, Theresa Payne; Secretary, Gene Clemens; Treasurer, Joe Mogan; and Historian, Joyce Dutschke. Student Council members were Bob Robinson, Joyce Dutschke, and Bill Farquhar. With the absence of Bob Robinson, Earl Hay was chosen to take his place. This year we were hosts to the Seniors at the Junior-Senior Prom. The prom, named Blue Moon Prom, was held at the Hoosier Heights Country Club. Entertainment was provided by Three Blocks and a Chip, and Dixie Davis and his orchestra. Nancy and Betty Spencer were honored this year by being selected for Girl's State. They were sponsored by the Business and Professional Women's Club and the American Legion Auxiliary. Shirley Young and Nellie Schraner were their alternates. Garry Anderson was selected for Boy's State. Betty Spencer was chosen cheerleader by popular Vote This year we received our class jackets and elass rings. During our last and most important year as dignified seniors, class officers were: Bill Northenor, President; Nancy Spencer, Vice-President; Nellie Schraner, Secretary; Shirley Young, Treasurer; and Joyce Dutschke, Historian. Nellie Schraner, Shirley Young, Joe Mogan, and Bill Northenor represented our class in the Student Council. New cheerleaders were chosen this year. Those that are Seniors were Iverne Zellers, Betty Spencer, Gene Clemens, and Bill Northenor. Shirley Young was crowned Basketball Queen and Betty Spencer was crowned Football Queen. Both are members of the Senior Class. The ceremonies were both conducted with the help of the band and the basketball and football teams. Under the direction of Mrs. Vaughn, the Senior play cast presented The Groom Said No! Those in the cast were: Bill Northenor, Betty Bryant, Nancy Spencer, Theresa Payne, Jimmy Powers, Earl Hay, Naomi Veatch, Garry Anderson, Betty Spencer, Barbara Alvey, and Joyce Dutschke. We chose as our motto, Beyond is Success, blue and white for our class colors, and the American Beauty Rose as our class flower. We were guests of the Junior Class at the Junior Senior prom, which was carried out in the Moulin Rouge theme. Johnny Elder and Joyce Dutschke were crowned Prom Kind and Queen. We went to St. Louis on our class outing. This outing was enjoyed not only by our class but also by our sponsors, Mrs. Vaughn and Mr. Etienne.
