INFORMER SOCIETY NOTES One of the most brilliant social events of the season took place last Saturday evening when Mrs. Lois Sue Hay Smythe gave a ball for the famous ballerina, Joan Clemens, and her husband. Miss Edith Morris, th6 popular florist, had decorated the Ball Room of Mrs. Smythe's thirty-room mansion very effectively for the occasion. Among those present were Miss Phyllis May, head buyer for Saks of New York City, Miss Lorna Sixx, famous author of Fourth Street Journey , and Billy Clark Glenn, Local dairy magnate. According to Miss Juanita Harding,Miss Clemens' Social Secretary, this was the most charming entertainment ever given for the danseuse. MILLER-GOODSON The Baptist Church here was the scene of a beautiful spring wedding last Monday evening when Miss Connie Miller became the bride of Mr. Ralph Goodson. Mrs. Goodson is a graduate of Indiana University. Mr. Goodson is the popular young vocalist who sings with Ralph Leitner and his orchestra, popularly known as Buddy’s Band. After a short honey moon, the couple will live in New York City, since Mr.Leitner's orchestra is currently booked at the Stork Club. REDHEADS TO PLAY HERE The Redheads, girlb nationally, famous pro basketball team, will play here next Wednesday. As lor the past four years, Cannelton’s own Norma Clements will play center. Reports say that Red is a real baltof-fire on the team. The proceeds of this game will go toward building a new hospital for mental patients, which will be supervised by Drs. Anna Van Conia and Jewell Parks. BADGER TO SUCCEED FRANK LEAHY Billy 0. Badger, former C. H« S. athlete, was recently named next yeart football coach at Notre Dane University. M .r. Badger coached one year at Indiana University, the next at Ohio State University and last year at Southern California. During these years his team did not lose a single game. CHAMPIONSHIP BATTLE TO BE WAGED TONIGHT Sharply at 8 00 tonight at the Colliseum, Nellie May and world champion Torso Tessie will batxle for the title of Champion Heavy Weight Lady Wrestler. KINTO TO COACH HERE Last night it was announced that P. C. Minton All-American basketball star, will coach basketball here next year. He will arrive here next month with his wife and two-year-old son. He is famous for making 5,2S1 points during the four years he played for the Kentucky Wildcats. FORSAITH WINS U Janet Forsaith, one of America's contestants in the Olympic Games, last night took diving honors in women’s high diving. The night before she took high honors in swimming, and the night before that in dish-throwing. Miss May is slightly favored in the match 1 She is famous for the unbreakable clinohes with whidi she holds her opponents.
