CLASS HISTORY Seventy-five freshmen entered C.H.S. in 1942. composing the largest class ever to enroll in the school. Students who had received their primary education at Myers Grade School, St. Michael. Rome. Derby, and Tobinsport settled down to the task of getting acquainted. Class officers were elected in that and subsequent years as follows: Freshman—Joe Hafele. president; Gilda May. vice-president: R. B. Hall, secretary: Art Clement, treasurer; Betty Jo Franzman. reporter; Billy Hendrick, historian. Miss Gynelle Bryson and Mr. A. C. Little were our sponsors. Sophomore—Joe Hafele, president: Betty Jo Franzman, vice-president: Robert Groves, secretary; Andrew Hall, treasurer: Frances Mogan. historian. Miss Gynelle Bryson and Mr. Foster Park were our sponsors. Junior—Robert Groves, president: Betty Jo Franzman. vice-president; Tommy Minto, secretary; Billy Hendrick, historian. Miss E. Ruby Byerley and Mr. Foster Park were our sponsors. Senior—Edward Bush, president: Betty Jo Franzman. vice-president; Mary Jo Miller, secretary: Ernest Graybill. treasurer; Frances Mogan. historian. Mr. Gerald R. Neff and Mr. Gurley Hopper were our sponsors. The 1945 junior-senior banquet was held in the basement of St. John’s Evangelical Church: our entertainer was Bob Cox. a magician from Owensboro. Our enrollment has steadily decreased as follows: 1942—75: 1943—60: 1944—56: 1945—50. In January. 1946. six of the senior boys took physical examinations for selective service. They were deferred until after completion of the school year. The publication of the Notlennac was accomplished under the direction of Miss E. Ruby Byerley.
