HARRY R. Davidson, Superintendent of Schools A.B.. Indiana Central College. 1928; M.S.. Indiana University, 1937. SENIORS OF 1942, you are leaving Cannelton High School at one of the most critical, but also one of the most interesting, periods in the history of civilization. Part of your education has been the study of the rise and fall of forms of government in the past. They have each made their contribution, good or bad, to the history of man. The supreme test of a government was its ability to survive in battle. We have learned to love our democratic way of life and rightly believe it is the way the Greatest Teacher of all taught that man should live. That way of life is now faced with a struggle to the finish with a form of government that exists only for itself and not for the benefit of those living under it. You will each have an important role in this great conflict, some in active service at the front and others keeping the wheels rolling here at home. May we therefore not complain but be grateful for the honor of a difficult task in a difficult day. Your teachers and school officials extend Best Wishes as you leave for your important role.
