The 1982 Varsity Baseball team ended its season with a record of 20-1, and won Canisteo’s first-ever sectional baseball championship. The Redskins defeated defending Class B champion, Geneseo, 10-0, in the pre-quarter-finals, then took Clyde-Savannah, 3-2, in eight innings, in the quarter-finals. The team qualified to play in Silver Stadium with a 4-2 victory over Oakfield-Alabama. Canisteo then captured the Section V Class B crown after defeating Kendall, 1-0, in ten innings of excitement packed baseball. Seniors, Mickey Ahearn, Andy Bertch, and Tom McDaniels, will be missed next year, but the 1983 season promises to repeat the 1982 season, with 12 veterans returning. The Kanistean takes pride in dedicating these pages to the Section V championship team and Coach Mike Dineen. VARSITY BASEBALL CUPSTAT -
