CLASS POEM Time has a way of slipping by. Leaving us mortals behind. So if you'll examine quite closely, my friend, I'm sure this is what you will find. 54's Seniors are caught by surprise, When they glance at the date and JUNE meets their eyes! Where did they go to, those long dreary years That stretched out before us? Our hopes, dreams and fears Are contained in Times” files. Do you remember? Let's reminisce awhile. Twas September way back in the year '41 When our education was really begun. Remember Miss Kluff with her nice winning ways? The playground, the sandbox—what wonderful days! But the years rolled along through first, second and third And when we reached fourth, we knew all kinds of words! We could read, write and add And not only that, our spelling was one filing we had right down pat------ (Well almost anyway) From there to the fifth to the sixth we did scurry. Through seventh and eighth we went in a hurry. And when we were Freshman, a light started dawning WE were in high school! Time to stop yawning And get down to work, for who knew what tasks 'round each corner would lurk? As we moved on our way toward that sought after goal We had joys and sorrows as Time took her toll. We were Sophomores then Juniors so fast that it seemed Work, sports and dances were something we'd dreamed! And now we are Seniors! At last we've succeeded. A wonderful cycle of life is completed. And we are prepared to start on life’s journey But the light of our school life within us is burning, We'll miss all our friends that we're leaving behind, So with our Good-by we say Keep us in mind!
