CLASS HISTORY It seems only a short time ago that we were entering school. That was twelve years ago, and now here we are, the class of ’54, on the theshold, waiting for the door of the world to open. With our pleasant grade school days behind, we can look to the future with a clear vision. From our mischievous days in grammar school we found seventh grade entirely different and exciting. Jr. High seemed quite an experience for all of us; the passing of classes, extra activi- ties we enjoyed because we were “older.” Those two years passed quickly and we found our four most important and dream-of years before us. High School. We got down to business after a few weeks and elected our Freshman class officers: Rose Marie McMindes, President; Ivan Shorts, Vice President; Carolyn Preston, Secretary; Barb Tyler, Treasurer. Our first year was a success with such money raising projects as a bake sale, pancake supper and the helpful suggestions of our advisors, Mrs. Spencer and Mr. Petrillo. Under the guidance of Miss Hicks and Mr. Brush, we again saw the vision of great things to come. Outside of our studies we planned the annual Soph Hop and sold refreshments at the foot- ball and basketball games. That year elected officers were: George Russel, President; Bob Mider, Vice President; Janice Teribury, Secretary; Bill Condon, Treasurer. Our Junior task was to elect officers: Edith Salisbury, President; Bob Dwight, Vice Presi- dent; Ann Wood, Secretary; Barb Tyler Treasurer. Our advisors were Mrs. Meek and Mr. Longley. Their expert leadership was instrumental in our success as Juniors. The traditional Junior dance was held in the fall. Our theme was Autumn Leaves and it too proved to be a profitable project. The Junior play, which actually was three one act plays, brought forth the talent in our class. These along with the card sale and parties will recall the Junior year. We soon realized that we would never be Juniors again. The all important year was just over the horizon. Our Senior Year. Now we are Seniors, we have reached the long strived-for goal. The year got underway with the election of officers: Rose Marie McMindes, President; James Flahive, Vice President; Catherine Rigatti, Secretary; Edith Salisbury, Treasurer. We started the year with the magazine drive, followed by the Senior play, “The Man on the Stairs.” These undertakings help immensely towards our trip to Washington, which we are all looking forward to. This great event takes place in the spring and is expected all will have a memorable time in the nation's capitol. Then will come the Junior-Senior Banquet and Senior Ball, both great events in our road of life. We know they will be unforgettable occasions. Of course, we shall never forget the hard work and all the fun we had while editing The Kanistean.” These highlights will forever be present in our minds when ever we think of C.C.S. Now also we look forward to June 28, the day of our graduation. To our Senior advisors Mrs. La Valle and Mr. Lancione, we will be indebted for the inspiration in their urging us to further our education and helping us find the right path to follow after our departure from Canisteo Central SchooL
