CLASS HISTORY When wc the class of '53, looking forward as Seniors to be, graduated from sixth grade, you see, never again little children to be. , Junior High School was a thrill to behold. Because of its changes of class don't you know. We soon learned to study and not to waste time For they had detention to keep us in line. Those two years of labor were not spent in vain For the basis of High School was thoroughly laid. Soon after starting our first High School year We chose those for office who worked in high gear. Jay Abbott was President to conduct the large class Don Merring took Vice to sub for the Pres. Gloria Allen took notes on the meetings John Schnurle balanced the books in high rating. Activities followed, one after the other With parties, a supper, and bake sales, Oh brother! We won the banner for the Holly Hanging And took much pride to see what our work did bring. The Summer had passed and we did return To find as Sophomores just what we could learn. Tim was more precious we found to be true So again we bore down to see what we could do. Again our election of officers came With which we took a great deal of pains. Jay Abbott won the Presidency John Schnurle the Vice-Presidency. Natalie Brasted was Secretary Pat Beaver took care of the Treasury. Plans that were made for the Sophomore Hop Astoundingly worked and we came out on top. We had the hall duty as bright Sophomores One step at a time! Slow in corridores! Surprisingly swift that school year did pass With promotions excepting a lad or a lass. Summer had come and speedily gone Back to school ana to knowledge did pawn. Jay Abbott, Jane Tyler were Pres, and Vice-Pres. Arlyce Ives, Elden Dennis were Secy, and Treas. The first large activity of our Junior tea Was Christmas card selling with Stationery. November 16 was our Junior Dance Where no one who went would leave it to chance. The summer vacation was next of the list But we came back to school and into the mist. Time had to be taken to select a new list Elden Dennis is Pres. Herb Peterson Vice-Pres. Lois Pierce and James Gillis Secy, and Treas., how nice. The Senior play, Green Valley, you know Was as successful as our three one-act shows. The next was to test our salesmanship With magazines we were cracking the whip. The painstaking job of compiling the year book Took patience with work which we never forsook. Washington looks but a little way off And then Graduation, to some, far enough. 17
