Mr. Gar'dner s contribution to our school 5 11 11 11 11 -system for the past 21 years is inestimable. We can never hope to have a more capaole and interested administrator. 2' ? Donald M. Gardner was born August 11, 1900 at North Warren, Pa. Upon grad- ' uation from 'Nellsville High School he studied in Alfred Universitv where he was an outstanding student and star' of the football team, as well as a participant in manv extra curricular activitles. He came to Canisteo, in January 1930 to succeed Principal Alvin Dunbar as Principal of Canlsteo Academy His collegiate training and interest in scholastic and campus achievements carried over into his Canisteo administration, and as a result the material and intellectual expansion and growth of the Canisteo school progressed from vear to year Outstanding was the transformation into a central H ized school, one of the first in this section. Mr. Gardner was interested in civic and community improvements and progress and was an active member of many or ganizations. . Funeral services for Mr Gardner were held in the Williams Funeral Home and he was buried in Wellsville Cemetery Mayor Lynn Maxfield requested that the com mercial places in town remain closed during the funeral services and the high 1 school was closed also. There has been talk of a memorial for Mr. Gardner in the form of a bronze plaque to be placed in the lobby of our schonl Manv have contributed toward it. But how can a small piece of metal adequately express the esteem and veneration we U hold in our hearts for our former Principalo The best way to show our res ect fora Mr. Gardner is by being the best students we can and makin? our school S first ' ..rate institution of learning to the best of our abilities. , F my 111 111 lllllllllllllll 111 '77 1 111111111 ,,,1 1 11TZZ Z5?lZs5?W 'q Q?la 13Z:wi:Hi1111111111111l1emZ 1l5l 1 HHH! l'I:. 1 111 1 1 1 1 11 11 u I II I I 'Ill I 7 f 1 D I: AI ,133 ififwi?
