MHS HHS GD Y IGH SCHOOL-The year 1936-The day September 4th-We gathered at the portals of Canisteo High School to embark upon a course that had long been. our goal. From our first day in the first grade in school We have, under the tender and solicitous care of our teachers, been constantly preparing ourselves to face and accept the challenge and opportunities of High School. With courageous steps but with trembling hearts we faced the challenge. We came: We saw, we conquered , and now are glad to relate the happy times that Canisteo Central High School has given us in our four years. Due to the fact that our present Canisteo Central School was under construction, our first year in High School was disrupted. We were housed in a temporary building in which several classes were combined, therefore, no organization could be formed. Nevertheless, we had one party during our Freshman year which was held in the Com- munity Building. Our Sophomore year became our transition year because we moved from the old building into our present Canisteo Central School. After getting permanently settled we endeavored to raise money to prepare for the expenses which were to follow in our Junior and Senior years. First we sponsored a magician program in the new auditorium. It was a success and gave us a good start for our Junior year. Page 18
