. .lt The success of an educational institution is determined and should be measured by the quality of its administration and faculty, as well as of its graduates. Student, faculty member, administrator,-at one time or another, the Very Rev. Donald L. Kirsch, SJ., who is now completing his first year as Rector and President of Canisius High School, has borne all three titles. A 1928 graduate of Canisius, he returned as a faculty member in 1944 to the Washington Street school in time to help supervise the move to a more spacious campus. As Assistant Principal in charge of Cani- sius-on-Delaware from 1944-48, Prefect of Discipline from 1948-52, and Principal from 1952-59, he saw the new school increase from its small initial holding to the present block- long rectangle. And as the years passed and times changed, his was the task of expanding the curriculum to meet the demands of a modern world. Sacrificing none of the essen- tials of a justly renowned system of education, he intro- duced new courses and facilities so that Canisius would continue to impart to each student the best possible educa- tion. His vast ex erience in each phase of education at 1180 Delaware enables him to see each individual viewpoint and suits him admirably for his present post. And so, Fr. Kirsch, We the graduates of 1960 who have been privileged to finish our hi h school course as you begin your term as Rector and Presigent dedicate to you this our yearbook, the 1960 ARENA. ll'itlv ll keen irztcrcxr in all pbafar of Canisiuf lzfe, Fr.
