With only two returning lettermen, Coach Carl Roesch was in dire need of assistance in order to rebuild and once more enioy a victorious year. Sophomores up from last year's undefeated frosh and new- comers to the sport proved to be ample replacements as the harriers were first to the wire in six of nine dual meets. Once again the Blue and Gold received an ample share of trophies in the annual Canisius and LeMoyne Invitations. They placed fourth on both occasions, against top flight competition from the eastern states and Canada. And so with the season completed, the Cross Country team can point with pride to another fine year. Ward home free God speed Y' is-H Although a seasonal record of 2 wins and 2 losses is far from sensational, the future of the varsity harriers looks more than bright. The Baby Griffs' only setbacks were at the hands of a strong Niagara quintet by a mere total of 5 points. Faced by Paul Wangler, a returning veteran, the yearlings scored decisive victories over LeMoyne and Montclair State Teachers of New Jersey in the LeMoyne Invitational. Jim Ward combined with Wangler to lead the Griftins to a 25-33 victory over the well balanced Ontario Aggies to round out a limited but rugged schedule. 95 Exercise for Wangler

Instead of bemoaning the loss of key men from last years' squad, Coach Carl Roesch looks forward to a victorious campaign. With veterans Capt. Bernie Wiese, Don Tomasula, Larry Farrell and seasoned newcomers Bob Mesel and Tom Brinkworth, the Grifts are equipped for another rugged season. Highlights of early spring training were the informal indoor meets held at the Connecticut St. Armory where the cindermen defeated BuFFaIo State and the Down- town YMCA. Tomasulo, Mesel, Hubbard and Wochna combined to sweep 5 of 6 events. 1111
