Their home opener also proved successful as the Griff's crushed the Orange of Syracuse by 20 points, 88-68, as Henry Nowak hit for 22 markers to lead the home forces. The Cardinals of Louisville University were next in line to visit the Auditorium and found their northern sojourn profitable as they handed the Griffins their first defeat 84-77. ln their last game before the holiday season, during which time they would be the host in the Queen City Invitational Tournament, the Blue and Gold cagers downed Xavier University, 78-68. John McCarthy proved to be the thorn in the side as he split the silk for 20 points.
