Durnak, R. strohaver science club Designed to increase the knowledge of all students in the general field of science, the Strohaver Science Club serves as an outlet for anyone interested in any kind of scientific phenomena. Weekly sessions include demonstrations by students as well as lectures by experts prominent in area science and industry. Supplementing these meetings are occasional movies and a general discussion meeting designed to clear up the difficulties of members. Besides its indoor work, the group annually makes a field trip to study rock formations and other aspects of geology. ln addition to its general work, the Club also aids students in selecting a scientific career for which they are best fitted. The Canisius College affiliate of the American lnstitute of Physics is established to demonstrate to the student of physics the application of his present studies to his future profession. Each week, on Friday afternoon, a seminar is held in which the members hear lectures on the current scientific developments in modern industry by a guest speaker, a member of the fac- ulty, or one of the students. After the lecture, reports are given by the Seniors on the progress being made in their independent research on a phase of advanced experimental physics. The group, under the direction of Dr. Grimsal, also sends delegates to the Spring Conference of Eastern Colleges' Science Students. Look, everybody's busy! Hugh Neeson checks circuit. Now you know what you do with this? As the science of chemistry becomes increasingly important in modern life and particularly in the Niagara Frontier, so too has the place of the Canisius Affiliate of the American Institute ot Chemistry increased in importance as an extra-curricular activ- ity. The Club seeks to stimulate student interest in chemistry by discussion and the exchange of ideas with students from the other member colleges, Under the direction of their moderator, Mr. Samuel T. Byers, the Senior members performed experi- ments on the manufacture of nylon and other items important in local industry at the monthly meetings. Numerous field trips to factories were made throughout the year to acquaint the student with production methods. A precedent, which it is hoped will be followed in the future, was established by the Seniors in the Society when they held a Spring Stag for the faculty. A
