Cadet Sergeant Eck drilling his squad. i Q , Q 71 e Reserve Officer Training Corps began humbly at Canisius l95l with 250 cadets from the present Senior Class. The rps has now reached regimental status, and at Commence- nt exercises in June, the College will contribute its first large cup of commissioned Army officers to the nation. ln the Basic Course the cadet is taught the fundamentals of litary science and drill. Those cadets who manifest leadership d character are selected by the professional officers in arge of the program for the intensified Advanced Course in ir Junior and Senior years. The R.O.T.C. represents the College at numerous civic events oughout the year among which are the Armed Forces Day remonies and the St. Patrick's Day Parade. The climax of program is the Federal Inspection, followed by the Military ll which introduces the cadet into the world of military urtesy and conduct. Wednesday afternoon drill at the armory.
