September 5, 1957, forty-five members were enrolled in the Junior class under the presidency of Martha Youn , assisted by Betty Louise Riggs as vice-president an ary Edith Harkness as secretary-treasurer. In this year Eloise Boles was elected Queen of the annual High School Carni- val. The first all school dance of the year was sponsored by the Juniors. A - The most interesting event of the year was on April twentieth, when the Junior class was hostess to the Senior class of nineteen-thirty-eight with the annual Junior- Senior Banquet. The Holland motif was carried out by a wind-mill arrangement of the tables and table decorations of tulips, Dutch boys and girls. After the banquet, the. tables were cleared away and dancing followed to the music of Al Forley and his Orchestra. September 5, 1958 found forty-seven Seniors enrolled for the last stage of a successful journey. Many students entered into extra-curricular activities this year. In sports, we recall Boggs, Souders, M. Harris, Bradford, Ingmire, Cofer, Denman, McClure, McNichols, also Pearsall who was chosen as All Conference tackle and Honor- ary Captain of the home team. Many Senior girls Partici- pated in the Senior-High Pepperette Club. This group was lead by M. Harkness, assisted by B. Riggs and K. Townsell with M, ggulanggg as cheerleader. Numerous members of the class have participated in the musical organizations. The band, orchestra and glee club have received many awards from contests that they entered. Many Seniors were prominent in the Playmaker organi- zation. , - was chosen president. This group presented a play December l5, l958, entitled, nBashful Mr. Bobbs.n In the cast were M..XQggg, D. Mahon, M. Gregg, B. Riggs, M. McNichol, and J. R. Fbrman. The staff of our school paper, the Nakenak, was com- posed of Seniors, Marjoriemggulanggg and Betty Riggs being co-editors. Truly delightful was the Junior-Senior Banquet of 1959, given by the Juniors, April 21 in the gymnasium. In April l959 the play entitled, WPeter, Bewagef, was ' . ef , V, -' ,, Cf! presented by some of our most talented nTElT5'eI s.1 .i5g 4,!,Lef,42.,,ff1,9V To become a desirable class, the class must be led by strong personalities. The officers of the Senior class were M. Harkness, G. Long, Jr. McClure, and B. Riggs. To our most efficient sponsors, Miss Berger and Mr. Stanton, we owe a great debt of gratitude for our success through the past years. We, the Senior class of 1959 are about to graduate into a new and broader field, hoping that the goals and standards which we have reached may be remembered and up- held by the oncoming classes of Caney High School.
