MEDICINE MAN CLASS PROPHECY Many an Indian chief has been noted for his tales and stories of past events. As we seat our- selves comfortably around the camp fire of the Candorama Indian Tribe, we become aware of an unbelievable talent of the Chief Wa-Hoo-not the ordinary talent of relating past happenings, but rather the curiosity in the minds of his listeners as to exactly what they will be doing in a few years to come, he promises to take us, the Class of 56 on an imaginary trip. Closing our eyes, according to his instructions we find ourselves in the City of the Future. The first thing that meets our eye is a huge crowd gathered in the city square. Right in the middle stands the well-known politician and speech maker, Dick Darling. He is making a nation-wide tour campaigning for Jerry Newman, a candidate for the U. S. Presidency. Noticing a large department store, we decide to enter. As we walk up to a counter we see a familiar face, that of janet Consalvi, who is now head clerk. Arriving in the furniture department and stop- ping for a moment to watch a T. V. set in opera- tion, we discover to ouruamazement Dick Weber. He has become official owner and head mouseketeer of the Mickey Mouse Programs. As we go down the street we bump into Dave Snow. He explains that he is the owner of a used car lor - specialty - red trucks - slightly used, but still in good condition. Suddenly, as we are hurrying along by a window advertisement for Sleeping Beauty Mat- tresses, we see right there in the middle of the bed, Larry Meddaugh, sound asleep! Not two minutes later we encounter Claudia Van Etten who is now secretary to Raymond Daven- port, head of the American Farmers Association. She invites us to have lunch with her where she is to meet Joyce Vergason, secretary to the well-known successful business man, Dave Silsbee. We learn during the course of the luncheon conversation that lklarge Cook has become head of the Tallnas- tics Friday night group, an organization established for those people who are short on one end. Screechl Dear me, there goes another one of those new drivers, and to think Bill Hughes is in charge of Driver Education. Speaking of cars, we hear that Skip Lind has not yet given up hope for his, though there are rumors that the tire supply in the dbmp is reaching a dangerous low! To the amazement of everyone, Pat Keene is not yet married. It se:-ms that she just can't make up her mind. A banner posted on the school building tells of the big prom that is coming off. The famous trum- peter, Don Van Scoy and his jazzy Cats are to play. YVe step inside the school building to get a littlr- detailed information and come face to face with Margaret Blow. She tells us that Sharon Storm and herself have been teaching school here since their college days. Once again we're headed down the street. A young fellow on the corner is yelling, Extra, Extra, read all about it. Warren Paxton has taken the Oscar award for his terrific acting in his latest Hollywood Production. Flash! There goes a camera. Let's find out what this is all about. Joyce Doucett, the roving photographer is catching the hand shake of Wenona Peret, the famous creator of a new type of art, with Professor Lewis Penney, an art director in a nearby college. News reaches us that we have an inventor in the class. Who could it be? Why Don Yeier, of course, and what did he invent? The Classical hair clip designed primarily for basketball players with long locks. We are also informed of the fact that Sal-ly Sandidge has won a Nobel Prize for her work with complex calculus problems. She is a math professor at Vassar. Two members of our class do not seem to be around. On inquiry we find that Rodney Ackles is a Texan now, owner of a large cattle ranch and that Clarence Rose has developed a new breed of sturdy corn. Chief Wa-Hoo summons us back from our trip and as we open our eyes, we are aware of the increased brightness of the campfire. Engrossed in our thoughts, we stroll away, one by one, into the night.
