Despite having numerous injury problems throughout the season, the Cubs were again District 12 and Region Ill champs. CHS tracksters enjoyed the beautiful weather this springas they dug out their spikes and bought new pairs of running tights - a seeming necessity in track apparel. This year's team under the coaching in- struction of Mr. Fix is young. Under the leadership of seniors Cathy Busche, Shelley Williams, and Bill Curl the times, distances, and school records improved as the season went on. Angie Elsperger with the video camera, Roxie Ciau with the charts, and Kari Baer- wald with the stopwatch helped track members: Bill Curl, Kelly Karnopp, Wes Erickson, Chris Fix, Shelley Williams, Carla Freund, Tonya Porter, Brent Anderson, julie Overton, David Beck, Nikki Neumann, Missy Ackre, Cathy Busche, Trina Elsperger, Susan Olsen, and Natalie Efterfield. After one meet, the team was so well disciplined in a Dairy Queen, that the manager contacted the school the next morning commending the Cubs on their attitude, behavior, and good example. The girls' team held on to their reign as conference champs. Bill Curl and Cathy Busche were the recipients of the Harvey lore Track Award. Both were the leading scorers on the team. Way to go Cubs! Guest speaker for the oc- casion was Dick Limke, Head Boys' Basket- ball Coach at Minot State University. Other activities included a lip sync contest where Dave Gibbons and Craig Aardahl played a mean broom and Mr. Reiser and Mr. Mundahl and the Girls' Basketball team showed us how to Come As You Are. The First Annual Toilet Paper Race was won by the Freshmen. This year's Cinderella was queen Kristin Axvig escorted by jim Vitt. Karri Byron, 1987 prom queen, crowned Kristin after the gand march on April 16, 1988. Other prom royalty were Lori Sand escorted by Ryan Miller and Susan Olsen escorted by Shannon Dennis. With the beautiful wonderland decor it was easy to get Lost in Time with the majestic castles, lavender forests, and cascading streamers in lilac and silver.
