The world is always changing; nothing stays the same. Fads changed from long and baggy to short and tight. Also frosted clothing, Guess jeans, jean jackets, cropped miniskirts, cropped shirts, boots, and safety pins on the pants. Twins' sweat shirts became a big hit after they won the world series and that spirit was carried on all through the year with our own Takedown Towels and Hoyme Hankies. Everyone's hairstyle was their own. Girls' styles were crimped, long or short and guys wore spikes, buzzes and the longer look. Billy Idol made a hit with Mony-Mony, David Lee Roth's Just Like Paradise. White Snake's Here I Go Again,” Bon Jovi's Livin' on a Prayer, and Honestly by Stryper. A few hit movies were Dirty Dancing, Fatal Attraction and Three Men and a Baby. Good times rolled at Gary, Lake Benton, Ivanhoe and even in our little town Canby. The 87-88 school year started out with new teachers, classes, weight room and a fund raiser for the new football field. The 87-88 school year went by fast but is full of memories that will always last.

In Dedication We, the senior class of 1988. would like to dedicate the Lancer Yearbook to Mr. Robert Barry. Mr. Barry has not only been a great guidance counselor to us, but also a great friend. Mr. Barry joined us at the beginning of the 1985-86 school year. Before coming to Canby High School, he spent 9 years in South Dakota as a social science and history teacher: he was also the guidance counselor for sixteen years at Hector High School. Mr. Barry graduated from South Dakota State University with a major in guidance and counseling and a minor in Psychology. We dedicate this annual to you, Mr. Barry, to show our appreciation for all you have done for the senior class of 1988.
